Luckily able to visit Sunday night. Unsurprisingly there was not much on the menu as they were busy Saturday night. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely scampi (lagostine) and calamari. Reasonably priced as away from main centre

Found out about Kod Jose from the “Split - In Your Pocket” booklet I picked from the office of tourism. It was described as “…absolutely delicious traditional food, … decent price… green pasta with shells is a knock out”. Well, 2 of the 4 items...ordered were not available (sea food salad and liver). The octopus salad was exceedingly bland. The 125ml of house white wine, was mediocre, and overpriced at nearly 40Kn. The slow cooked beef tasted overpoweringly of celery salt. The green pasta came with 8 mussels and one (very sandy!) scampi. The pasta was nothing special, and the sauce/broth it came with was exceedingly salty! The handful of clams was nice though. For a total bill of 350 Kn, it was very much a disappointment. However, the table next to ours had pre-ordered a dish that looked fantastic, roasted octopus with potatoes (hobotnica ispod peke?) and they were very pleased with it. Wish it had been available for us!More

Thought we might stumble across a gem as it was out of the way and had good reviews. We were wrong. Our salad didn't turn up. The seafood risotto had lots of seafood but was just a pile of rice in flavourless fish stock. The...house white wine was the worst we have ever tasted. We couldn't even finish the bottle. The service was so poor we priced it up ourselves and left money on the table as none of the wait staff would look at us for over 20min.More

We could not make a reservation for only 4 people. We were hoping to sample the octopus peka. The photos look amazing and we had hoped to sample their food.

Our hotelier is a Split local born & raised, when I asked for a good Konoba, he immediately said "Joze". He was Not wrong--Wow! Fresh fresh grilled fish, vegetables, arugula and smoked Tuna carpaccio, so delicious and great local wines by the glass. We also...appreciated the fact that the background music was also Croation!!More

Fresh fish, great wine and friendly staff. Tuna carpaccio and octopus salad were amazing, mussels sauce to die for and house wine was just what we needed to accompany this great food! Coming back for sure!

We were recommend to come here by our host. It did not disappoint! The most delicious seafood pasta I’ve ever eaten. Great secluded location and wonderful service.

I highly recommend this restaurant to you. It's an insider tip. Since I was little we go here when we are in Split. Every time the food was unbelievably good, and today is no exception. I ate the best scampi in the world. Here you...get the best food (high high quality food and delicious food) and the best service. I am looking forward to next time.More

Located on a small side street a short walk from Diocletian's Palace, this restaurant is worth looking for. It is unpretentious and genuine. My husband and I had a cheese plate for an appetizer and an excellent fish dish served with pasta and a cream...sauce, with Croatian wine. The service was excellent.More
