Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was totally a game of two halves. I had the pasta with mushroom and truffle which was excellent. My husband had the lamb stew which had very little lamb but a lot of bones and fat. The restaurant itself was okay and service was...fine….More

We just loved this place , whatever fish is caught on the day is available , all cooked fresh , not a huge menu but still plenty of hoice . Great atmosphere and the girls who run the place are really friendly - wonderful salad/starters...and the seafood pasta was to die for. Just a note like a lot of places in Split its cash only , we were 25 eurs short as we didnt have much cash on us and thought we could pay with card - there was no drama , sit and relax and one of you go to the ATM and come back - great serviceMore

Top notch in every way, great tasty food, wonderful atmosphere, fair price and superb service. Everything that was served was fresh and tasty. Be aware this is not a fancy place and reservations are NOT accepted, get there early. The best in SPLIT.

Amazing find Amazing food cooked in front of you. The tastes were a real change to many restaurants in split. Really nice people a warm welcome was lovely. It’s small 7 places at the bar and one table. If you have to wait, it’s worth...it!More

We ate here after a local guide advised us to go. We had cheese starters followed by meatballs and pasta with prawns. All delicious, filled you up without feeling stuffed. Great food in a very happy environment, staff sang as they cooked the meal in...front of you. 100% would eat there again.More

We went to Villa Spiza, the food, service and atmosphere was unbelievable. Fresh local food delivered everyday, so the menu changes every day. Staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. This is a must go to restaurant.!

We knew this place was special as soon as we walked in. It was extremely relaxed, welcoming and homely, and everything we ate (from a menu which changes every day based on what ingredients they have in) was cooked perfectly They don’t take reservations so...you may need to queue a bit!More

We were happy to walk up and find a table for 4 inside this highly rated restaurant. Unfortunately, we had a very poor experience, both with the food and service. Our orders were taken quickly, but we never got the attention of the staff again....We ordered the burrata which was very good, but the other dishes were marginal at best. The pasta dish tasted like a salt lick and the sides that accompanied the sea bass were bland and poorly presented. We didn't receive some of the things we ordered and the waitress (who we had to go and ask for the check) unapologetically crossed them off the bill. We're a pretty forgiving group and tried to make the best of it, but it was very, very disappointing. Cash only. Good luckMore

Amazing hidden gem - fantastic fresh food cooked in front of you. Friendly staff and delicious wines. Menu changes each day - you cannot book a table but it is worth waiting for, we went early (7pm) to avoid the queues 👌🏼

This small, humble restaurant serves well thought out, delicious food. We dined here twice during our stay in Split & Hvar. The lamb & pea stew served in traditional Croatian style, is the best thing we have eaten in our 10 day trip across Italy...and Croatia. Wonderful food. Service is good. Good wine selection. Cash only, no credit cards. Three course meal with good wine for 2 cost about €100. Definitely worth the splurge if you appreciate well prepared food. Portion size is excellent across all three courses. Our host Recommended this restaurant and we are so glad we tried it.More

This place is fairly well known if you do research on where to eat in Split. Several travel shows feature this place, as well as guide books. They're known for having no menu, only daily handwritten features...and only take cash. We were there in the...offseason so they had reduced hours. I believe the day we went they were open from 12:00 - 3:00. The interior is quaint and charming. The waitress we had was pleasant and helpful. My wife got some vegetable soup followed by something called boiled beef. My daughter got the pasta bolognese, and I got the meatballs. We ended with some tiramisu and a piece of chocolate cake. The pasta, meatballs and desserts were good; not great, good. The boiled beef was, in a word, disgusting. We didn't know what to expect, but it wasn't what we got. When it came out it looked like it had a lot of fat on it. Ok, we can cut that off. I noticed my wife wasn't eating it so I took a piece, chewed on it a bit and spit it out. The 'fat' was rubbery...I couldn't cut it off the meat and I couldn't chew through it. It was just plain gross. We're glad we were able to try this place, but in hindsight I find it to be very over rated. We would not go back here again, and would definitely not recommend it based on the average food that we did eat, and fatty beef dish we did not.More

Like an inn with typically cooked dishes, sufficient and very good. Friendly and smily welcome. However, ask for the price of drinks before ordering. A 1/2 liter carafe was charged to us at the price of 2/3 of a bottle or 4 glasses (4x12.5 cl)....You can order by the glass, you will be charged for the arithmetic quantity of the bottle (6x12.5 cl). For French people, this was unusual. Despite this, it was a great experience.More

I went here after seeing it on a Rick Stein programme and it did not disappoint, there is the old kitchen area where you can sit and across the alley they have a newer open resturant area. I was in the old kitchen area which...was awesome. They hand you a handwritten daily menu which is cool, so you know their food is fresh. It ws very reasonably priced too.More

The absolute best! This place is not fancy, and just to the point, and the point is fantastic food and amazing, friendly service. We even had a glass of wine with our waiter! Truly wonderful people! Go early as people line up outside as they...do not take reservations, but I highly, highly recommend the wait and it does go by fast.More
