Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you want genuine Croatian, THIS is the place to go. You will need to order hrs ahead for the Peka options which we did. A must when you have 4 pax. The meal serving was so big as it was veal with potatoes and...carrots. Service is very good.More

This horrible experience started with a twenty-five minute wait while servers continuously walked by my family not acknowledging us although there were several empty tables in the restaurant. Finally one server named Ante MLADIN rudely ordered my family to follow him, we should have walked...away immediately! It only got worse from there, Ante was tremendously rude, arrogant and negligent towards us for the entirety of our dinner. We briefly had a second waiter, but he was no better displaying the same disdain for customers of the establishment. We observed a table of elderly couples having the same issues with the staff at this restaurant, which is disturbing! The food was bland, overcooked and overpriced. My seafood risotto was disgusting, drowning in oil and they served me an un-opened clam buried in the middle of it. I sent the clam back and with no apology from Ante, they had the clam back in front of me within twenty seconds, I DID NOT eat it! When it came time to pay the bill, I advised Ante about the issues with my seafood risotto. Ante instigated an argument about the risotto, but reluctantly said that he will remove that portion from the bill. I thanked him for doing so and then he said that he will not be removing that portion now, Ante clearly never intended to do so in the first place. I have eaten at restaurants around the world and this is by far, the worst staff and establishment that I have ever encountered. DO NOT eat here!!! There are far better restaurants to enjoy while visiting Croatia.More

We were recommended to try here due to the genuine food and reasonable prices. To start with, getting a table we were sort of left hanging about and they didn't seem the most friendly, looked like very large party of 30+older people left, then a...very smiley waiter got us a table outside, food was delicious and tasty and reasonably priced. My friend had the seafood green pasta and I had the butterfly scampi with prosciutto with buttered rice. The it thing I wasn't keen on was the taste of their draft lager, it was a brand is not come across in Croatia. An American couple sat by us said their local guide recommended thge place and that the lamb was some of the best tasting they'd ever had. All in all we'd thoroughly recommend for decent food in Split.More

My parents and I went for dinner around 7pm. Make a reservation because every table was filled up around 7:30 on a Tuesday. Great local favorite for dinner, we were the only ones speaking English in the whole restaurant! The sea bass, rib special, and...green seafood pasta was spectacular and well priced. Service was fantastic. Would absolutely come here again!! (Picture of my seafood pasta)More

The food is so good! My boyfriend and I wished we discovered this restaurant sooner during our vacation. We were able to go to Varoš twice (once for lunch and once for dinner). The food here is savory, and high quality. You get great portions...at an extremely affordable price. The service is also top tier, very friendly staff. If you ever plan on going there for dinner I’d recommend making a reservation.More

We found a table despite not having a reservation. Mixed fish for 2 was good in size/quality however the clams and mussels were cold as if from somebody else’s plate.

Food was good, but the overall experience was spoilt because of a very rude waiter, who was rude to us and another table of guests. We asked if they had mussels on the menu and he responded by saying “there, it says shellfish, what else...can that be?”. He told the guest at the other table not to sit on the chair along the hallway as it blocks him but there was plenty of room for him to walk and that was a table of 10 persons so one person definitely had to sit on a chair at that end of the table.More

Yasna, my waitress, helped make the evening very special. She helped me decide what to order. The seafood was fresh out of the Adriatic Sea. I had an octopus appetizer and shrimp scampi over buttered rice. The portions were huge and the food was delicious....I travel solo regularly and am not always treated with the same type of welcome that I received from everybody on the staff. If you are going to be in Split, definitely make sure you make it a point to eat here.More

This Kobona was absolutely excellent. We walked in a ordered the Lamb Peka for a couple of days later (they need at least 4 hours notice for this meal) with a €20 deposit. Our reservation was at 8pm and when we arrived we were seated...right away. The wine was good and affordable, the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was lively and nice. I will return to this Kobona as often as possible! Highly recommend to anyone in Split and especially if you are staying near or in the Palace.More

Food was exceptional but let down by rude and aggressive waitstsaff. We tried a few different dishes and the flavours and the way it was cooked was superb. However we left upset by the way the female waitress spoke to us.

We dined @ Konoba Varos when we visited Split after being recommended by our guide Tina. It is an authentic Croatian restaurant with a lot of locals. Nicely decorated place too. The food was good & it was a great experience. Nice to eat @...a local restaurant rather than in a touristic one.More

This is a family run restaurant decorated in an old style with interesting paintings and sculptures. Many local family and friends eating here. The food was superior to most we have had in Croatia. The grilled seafood platter was a highlight of our holiday. Definitely...go here for great food and an authentic Split experience.More
