Me and my family, of 5 people, went in to the Restaurant Venezia, to have lunch. We were pleasantly surprised about the interior, the place looked really good and promising, so we sat down. The waiter brought us menus, and seemed very unhappy, that we...asked for a menu in english and in russian. After bringing us the proper menus, we waited for a good while, after we had already chosen, for the waiter to come back and take our orders. When the waiter came close, she didnt seem interested in us at all, but instead first went to check out the empty table, when i politely asked if she would take our orders, i got back a very unpleasant "yes, you can see im here already". The food took from 15-40 minutes to cook, depending on the dish, and they were brought out in a random order, pizza first, then a hot lamb plate, together with an apple pie, then pasta, and only about 30 minutes in, did my grandma finally receive her only order of "soup". The dish that took the longest was a pork bone meant for 2 people, which was almost stale, and the skin was as hard as rock. After we were done with the food, we had to wait for somebody to once again notice, that we were ready to pay, after which we were told that their credit card terminal wasn't working. Since exchange rates and commission for cash withdrawals are high in ukraine, we exchanged enough money back home, to be enough for the Market in town, however this didn't seem to matter to anybody. We asked why we hadn't been informed that the card terminal is broken, to which the waitress responded with "it was working when you came in, but isn't working now and it will take 6 hours to get it back running". After we, very reluctantly, paid with cash, the waitress seemed to not even think about returning our change. Sidenote: the change was 3gn, or less than 10 euro cents, but its more about principle, than anything else, since the waitress just left and tried to avoid us, while we left, seemingly as to not have to give us our change, so she could have it as a tip.
I understand, that sometimes a card terminal might not work, but i do believe, that a waiter should inform the client, if such a thing occurs BEFORE we get the bill.
Would not recommend, the only real upside to the food was that everything was plated quite nicely, inconsistent, but aesthetically pleasing.
TL;DR:
Great atmosphere, mediocre food, terrible service.More
