The mixture of Japanese blended with Spain, whatever the mix. This was one of the best dining experiences our "Gourmet Dinner Club" has had during the three years I have been a member. With absolutely nothing but word of mouth and tripadvisor publicity I have finally found my Asian restaurant I have so desperately sought in the heart of Antigua,... More

The folks who own Izakaya present a nice fusion of the tapas tradition of Latin America and Japan's analogous tradition, robatayaki. Only about fifteen dishes are offered. We shared three, accompanied by Gallo, Guatemala's signature lager. Izakaya's ceviche was really, really good. The base was very fresh grouper, marinated to perfection in lemon and salt and mixed with black olives,... More

My sister had been telling to go for a while, so we finally made plans and drove over to Antigua, which is the most amazing colonial city in the world. The restaurant is small and cozy, with an open kitchen right on the entrance. We actually sat on the bar stools that look over the kitchen so it was a... More

Delicious asian fusion gastronomy with fresh ingredients and subtle tastes. While reasonably priced given the quality, the portions are a bit small, so it adds up if you take a couple of dishes. Stylish decor. This is a place to go for the culinary experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. I arrived after having had a late lunch and bananas and lychee from the market so only had room for the (free) endamame and two dishes: Nasu dengaku and cerviche. Both were bursting with flavour and after travelling in Latin America since the end of March were a welcome change from the usual meat,... More

Beautiful food, we had 6 dishes as it is tapas you don't get rice or other accompanying foods but yoU don't need it, we had king prawn tempura which is fantastic, wonton, vegetables tempura, aubergine with soy and ginger, mushrooms and zucchini plus chicken skewers, this was a lot for two people so 4/5 dishes would suffice, we will definitely... Great (free) edamame to start, followed by a number of other good dishes. The staff were nice and friendly. We had a mix of Chinese spare ribs (large portion), very good shrimp tempura, sashimi and wontons. It was simple and pleasant. The decor was somewhat plain, but overall it was a nice experience for the whole family.

My wife and I have just experienced the most creative and thoughtful combination of flavors by Chefs Lorena and Gabriel. Extremely well designed combination of flavor, fabulous presentation, great service and incredibly simple yet relaxed atmosphere in Izakaya Restaurant. Our last night in Antigua on this visit was very much enjoyed thanks to this exquisite experience.

It felt a bit strange to be visiting a Japanese restaurant in Antigua, and we were a little sceptical. However, don't be ... We are from London and the standard of food was easily as good as the best Japanese restaurants we have there. We had the ceviche which was so tasty and very fresh - the fish is brought... More

We had an outstanding meal there! In fact, it was our favorite meal in over a month in Guatemala. We love Japanese cuisine and this restaurant produces creative translations of favorite dishes and creates anew! Will go back again when we return to Antigua.

Izakaya is a Japanese Sake Establishment which also serves food to accompany the drinks. Enticing Oriental Appetizers with a tropical twist, creating a fusion between guatemalan and asian flavors. Fine cuisine prepared in an open kitchen, by reknown chefs with an international trajectory, which includes Nobu, Zuma & Gordon Ramsay in London. Cozy atmosphere and great music.
