The Restaurant Hadjidraganovite Izbi that means "Hadjidraganov's Cellars" offers Bulgarian national cuisine on fire, on a hot plate and in an oven. Situated in the center of Sofia restaurant exposes unique atmosphere of an old cellar - all hand-maded. A band of one of the best Bulgarian folklore musicians is playing folklore music in the nights! Legend of Hadjidraganov's Cellars! "In 1866 a century ago Hadji Dragan, a trader of wool and silk lived in Sofia and four great houses built. Each with a style from different region of Bulgaria (Melnik, Koprivshtitza, Zheravna, Bansko). Now it's a famous restaurant "Hadjidraganov's Houses". In his famous cellars there was wine from vineyards all over the country. Only few were people entered into the Hadjidraganov's Cellars. While entering inside, silence, a smell of old barrels and a coolness met the special guests. Barrels ordered in long lines could be seen in twilight of kerosene lamps. Selected bottles lay in straw in wine racks." Now the Restaurant Hadjidraganov's Cellars welcomes you with it's traditional bulgarian food cooked on fire, hot plate and in an oven. You can choose a wine from different regions all over Bulgaria.

Typical restaurant, specializing in barbecue meats. The place is touristy but really worth a visit because the food is really good at absolutely affordable prices. The The staff is very kind and the evening is also enlivened by musicians dressed in typical clothes. A place that really deserves an evening if you are in Sofia. The beers are good

A tremendously nice place with good service. We went without a reservation and they "fitted us in" perfectly in a very cozy little corner. We had a good dinner and drank a "brutally good" 100% Syrah Bulgarian wine for about €22 a bottle. It is a place that I will always recommend although I would like to know "what they gave" to the Italians because we were the only non-Italian customers in the place (hahaha).

Wow wow and wow again. We turned up on a Friday night and found that we couldn't be seated. We then made a reservation for the following evening, and boy we were not disappointed. They had a huge menu and we ordered from the "favorites for british" laminate that was inside ( with pictures). We ordered and the waiter offered us some cheesy garlic bread to start and we thought why not?! My partner had a chicken and lamb with cabbage and onion - it was like a slow cooker meal. Very nice. I had rolled chicken fillet in cheese with potatoes and coleslaw. Again very delicious. All this food and 2 pints, and a 10 len tip ( 10% is kinda the norm) came to 95len (£40). As we finished the some musicians started playing traditional Bulgarian folk music. A fantastic atmosphere. Would recommend and would visit again if our trip was longer.

I absolutely do not recommend this place. Rude and rude staff and waiters. Dirty place with cobwebs on the chandelier dangling on the table, in true Halloween theme! Very high prices and poor quality, if you spend less than €80 per person they treat you badly and make fun of you. Among the dishes we ordered the typical porcini soup, without ordering the bread since it has always been included and part of the service even in the worst tavern. The moment this slow and breadless slop arrives, I order the bread later and out of spite it is served to me half an hour later with the soup now cold. A place that deserves to close but unfortunately it is always very crowded.

Location 7 It is located in a central area and the interior, although small, is characteristic Menu 2 We didn't eat anything good, the very heavy meat prevented us from sleeping peacefully, forcing me to wake up every hour. Undrinkable house wine, the sparkling water in the jug suggests that it was taken directly from the tap as it had a really bad taste despite the lemon Service 3 The owner should learn to smile at customers (I see it is a characteristic of the shops in Sofia), biblical times to go from starter to main. The only positive note was the friendly waiter who earned the tip. Account 5 Slightly below the average of other places in Sofia but for the quality of what we ate and drank it was too much

Typical place but exclusively for tourists We went to this place for New Year's Eve. They assigned us a tiny table that couldn't be smaller, where they "crammed" the various dishes and drinks. Not quality food. For us who have been frequenting Bulgaria for twenty years, this place is absolutely to be avoided! The only positive note was having a group of very nice Italians as table neighbors, who helped us spend the evening pleasantly. Anna and Franco

Local in the center of Sofia, quaint but very popular, certainly does not shine for speed in service and willingness of waiters to understand the menu! Excess smoke! Good and original soups in the cup made with bread, more difficult to choose the second so as not to end up in the usual "cheese" made in all ways and inside all the dishes. To make no mistake we address ourselves to the meat and grill but, as happened to me, after 40 minutes I still had not seen anything while other diners and other tables had already finished! The concept of first and second courses, serving the same table together, bread etc. is still very vague!

I give the highest marks for the location, the food and the cost. The only flaw, for which I don't feel like penalizing the score, were the waiters: not really available to help us choose the dishes. I want to justify them because it's very rushed, the place is always crowded (we had to book on Thursday for Sunday 😅). For the rest everything is ok. 74 LEV (very little) for: a main course that we shared, the bread with cheese on it, the plate of apetiziers, a soup (we wanted it in the bread but it was normal, a little disappointment... but very good!) and the patatnik . All very good. Ah… we also took the house wine (not the blueberry one, we asked for “normal” wine) and at a certain point they played live. In short, a short summary: recommended for typical food, book in advance, don't rely too much on the waiters for advice.

We went to this place in the center of Sofia together and were greeted by very friendly staff. They asked us if we were Italian and they gave us, together with the classic menu written in Cyrillic and English, a card written in Italian with some of the typical dishes (if you want to have the complete picture you have to read the menu in English). The evening is enlivened by a typical Bulgarian music group. Reservations are required every day, otherwise they won't let you in

The placa and atmosphere is really nice and authantic. We made a reservation for 19:30 and arrived 19:36 and the lady manager blowed up us that she tool the table for half an hour. And ehen she saw that it was just 6 minutes she apologized. However it wasnt a nice start. The waiter was good. The somon filet was average but the patatina and the rice was good. They say that there will be folk music from 8:00 to 23:00. But ar 8:30 they came and sing 1 song and then they left. It was surprising.

This restaurant is very charming! The decorations are traditional, the woden menu is impressive, the service is attentive and not pushy, and the food is very good! We came here for a business meeting that lasted almost 4 hours. We tries many salads, spreads, bread, cured meat, and 3 different kinds of pork ( 1 grilled, one oven roasted, and 1 sauteed) every dish was beautifully presented and delicious. The flavors were unique and different. I would highly recommend! Make a reservation as far in advance as you can. We attempted to eat here on a Friday night and were told they were full of reservations all weekend for dinner so we made a lunch reservation and got the last available table.

Ideal for tourists, When we asked to have a soup specific to Bulgaria in a unique place in Sofia, where we spent a short time on our return from Italy tour, they recommended this place to us. We found it too, even though it was difficult. Do you have a reservation with us? They asked, and when we said no and that we didn't have much time, they made us sit somewhere in the backyard. All the tables here were full. We thought it was a very popular place. We wanted to drink some soup. The soup came very late. While we were waiting, we watched with appetite the kebabs and meat dishes coming to other tables :) The soup made of lamb meat brought in clay pots was very nice. But we couldn't think of asking for bread, and when we asked for bread, we were told you didn't want it. When we said "we are heating it now, please bring it", they said it would be ready in 15 minutes. Result; Ask for everything in detail here :( I cannot say that the employees were very respectful, but the lady who welcomed us treated us very well, I would like to thank her. I think there is no parking problem outside. Prices are average. We paid 9 Leva for a bowl of soup. (Approximately 4.5 Euros) The place is authentic, small, but in good weather there are just as many tables in the backyard. I recommend this place. When you go to Sofia, stop by for a soup.

We booked from Italy, yet the reservation had not been reported. we showed the email and it was all solved serenely. the room from the photos looks nicer and wider, we were actually on a very small table even considering the nice full-bodied courses ordered. We hope about 140 levs for 4 dishes including an amazing pork with mushrooms and a kind of sausage served in a saucepan with a great broth with legumes. we also ordered 2 desserts and 2 rakia, out of the 3 restaurants tried sofia was probably the best. But pay attention to the reservation!!!

Despite a small hiccup with the reservation made with Google, the staff managed to find us a table for three. Home maybe a little cold, but it was ok for the rest. English present for all members, it's practical! Very pretty setting, as well as a folk music group present during certain days of the week, very jovial! They may even ask you where you are from, and play a song related to your country if they know one. Depending on the dishes, extremely generous portions (and calories ^^)! It's best to share it between two people sometimes! In my opinion, it is not essential, but testing it is a good idea! The prices can be high for certain dishes, but given the portions and the products, this can be explained I imagine.

Excellent experience from start to finish. From the decor and welcoming atmosphere, to the attentive and efficient staff. The food was delicious, well prepared and served in generous portions. It is definitely worth visiting this place. We made a Reservation in advance, and communication with the restaurant was quick and easy, which made the whole process even more enjoyable.
