Viejo Sancho was recommended by the the owner of our accommodation. We were looking for a good meal after having been disappointed by the food and lack of value for money we experienced in Buenos Aires and Colonia during the first week of our trip. Thankfully we were not disappointed! The fireplace caught our attention as we walked in the... More

We went here since many years ago. The staff si so friendly and worked since many years. They give good suggestions. We recomendate> "planchita de cerdo" ( now is not good as the past, perhanps changed the chef ). "Alaska" is a sweet bomb ! ( order one and eat 2 or 3 ). Is ok as lunch or dinner.

We stayed at a hotel right around the corner from this restaurant and the concierge recommended this place to us. We went there right when they opened at 8pm and as we were running low on Uruguayan Pesos we asked if they could take US dollars and they said yes. Dinner was decent, the wait staff were very nice and... More

Good local place with a great menu of meats at a good price. Most plates are about $15 and the food is very good. A very casual local place with great service and food.

Wonderful friendly service, generous portions, meat cooked to perfection, reasonably priced. Not for vegetarians of course. Great local crowd. Would go again.

Chose here passing by and noticing mainly locals. Well received by friendly staff and helpful with making choice from menu. Food was good quality and all dishes I noticed being served around me looked appetising. A good address.

The staff was extremely nice and helpful, the food quite tasty and in large quantities. We had the pollo relleno with champignons and the kassler (smoked pork chop) al Jerez. Both were cooked beautifully. Prices were very reasonable- we would definitely go there again!

Yes, traditional. Yes, a real Montevideo lunch spot. Very busy. Very nice staff. Felt very welcome. But the beef was tough, and certainly not up to the standards of other places we had been. Reasonable pricing for what it was.

We were looking for a tradicional place to eat and founded this peculiar place. Nice place, good music and the best "Lomo a la Roquefort" ever!!!
