We were very lucky, only 4 people at our sitting and we had fantastic food, got to spend lots of time with chief Wong and learn some tricks of the trade from him. Watching him cut the fish in such an effortless fashion was a sight to see, he was very pleasant and engaging having us come close to watch... More

Without question, this unpretentious place offers good food, as good as you'd get at many other local restaurants, but here at a much higher price. Note that there is no signage whatsoever: it looks and feels like a private residence. The menu is essentially chef's choice. I had the ceviche, which was as good as the ceviche I got at... More

I'll admit that I was a first-time visitor to Lima, eager to experience authentic ceviche. In an important sense, my trip to Chez Wong was ripe for disappointment, as expectations were through the roof. A long-time resident of Lima explained that this was truly the prime location for a single ceviche mean. In the end, three words - expectations far... More

Three dishes. The ceviche is really good, the second and third course are fried variations of the same fish used in the ceviche - sole the day I went. The fried dishes are average, what you would eat in any chifa restaurant - taste is not bad but its greasy and not imaginative at all. The place is a garage... More

Six of us made reservations FOUR months ahead of time. The venue is small and spartan - but, yes, there is a restroom with paper and everything is neat and clean. I'm not sure why so many folks mentioned the paper napkins, but they were just fine with us. Folks, we were in Lima - a five hour flight from... More

Heard about this place from some friends, it´s a must do when you go to Lima. Loved the Ceviche, regarded as one of the World´s best Ceviche´s. Here you can see the star of the show at work in the kitchen working away on his wok, Javier Wong.

Yes it is not fancy but I wanted real ingredients! So satisfied until I could not eat anymore!!!!! I will pay the price for a chef of his caliber to cook in front of me! Yummy - highly recommended!

This is an iconic restaurant in Lima Peru. It's in an unassuming part of a middle-class neighborhood and has no markings or advertising outside so you have to ask people around where the restaurant is located and everybody will guide you since everyone knows who he is. Chef Wong has been at this location since 1994 and doesn't plan to... More

Nice cebiche, but nothing special. We came following Tony's recommendation but left completely disappointed. The second course was terrible: a stir fried using canned fruits and mushrooms for 25 USD is a disgust to the industry. Besides, it tasted of pure soy sauce. Would encourage critics to find the actual best cebiche because this one is definitely not. PS. Extremely... More

He's a national treasure in Peru. His apron is embroidered "Embajador de Perú" (Ambassador of Peru). His ceviche is legendary. Chef Javier Wong is Chinese by ancestry but his soul is Peruvian. We had the pleasure to have lunch in the modest restaurant located at his home. He presides over a small dining room of about 10 tables at a... More
