The ambience was very good. The help, great. The customers, fantastic. I went there specifically for the BBQ Ribs. Only took two bones, the meat was very small on the bones and did not take long to finish. The food baskets on the table were empty, and when the waiter was asked to bring more, the ribs were already gone. The... More

The ambiance was amazing. And the food was good but they had a short supply of ribs and bread and some people only got two rib links/two bones and they ran out of bread for our table and some who got a piece of corn bread said it was dougy in the middle. It was less then a child's portion... More

I have to admit, my heart and food loving soul had a major sinking spell when I heard that Joe's Secret Garden had been sold. How could they, we have only been gone a year. It took my husband and I a month before we decided to try Joe's again. After all, it was an institution in Cuenca. The fried... More

We have not been to Joe's in quite some time, decided to try again under new management. The service staff was very friendly and responsive to our needs. The food was served hot and prepared well. We will be returning soon, great place to ne other expats

Noisy and overpriced food. I also lived near the place and because it was in Gringolandia and owned by Gringos speaks for the over pricing.

Living close by, we have occasion to frequent Joe's Secret Garden, a friendly hangout for "gringos" in Cuenca, Ecuador. Last night, we had delicious ribs & that banana pudding that says "home" to many of us originating from the USA. I enjoy being seated at tables with newcomers to Cuenca, and hearing my husband give them practical advice about how... More

Generally what I find here is comfort food. The price is reasonable, the quality good, and the food is unlimited.

Lets see, mashed potatoes that were almost soup, coleslaw that was dry, burnt rolls and mystery fried chicken followed by dry chocolate suprisenwith cement whipped cream at a price that is 2x what you can get the best meal in cuenca. Never again!

The beef was so undercooked, it was completely raw and the pastry was gooey. Everyone (5) in our party sent their plate back and we noticed the majority at the other tables did not eat the main course. The service and ambience was excellent, but we went for the food. The meal was twice the normal price and certainly was... More

It is always fun to go to the Secret Garden. We have been enjoying dinner there for close to four years. The one star rating was unfounded. The bar keeper keeps up fine. That night was Ceasars salad, was wonderful, minestrone was full of flavor. The lasagna, as advertised, was with Bechamel Sauce, which is white and does not call... More
