This Café is a must in Quito! Really friendly hosts. Nice drinks and a lot of photos on the wall. Try to find me on your next visit in Fonfone. ;-)

Falafel with salad for $3.50 CAN, vegetable lasagna for $4. A cheap but filling & delicious meal for two. Was plenty. The decor is basic, ecuadorian style, but the hostess welcoming and proud of her small restaurant and the food it offers.

Whenever I come back to Quito, one of my first things to do is check out the Fonfone Café is still there. It still is. When in Gringolandia (or "La Mariscal", as the zone is officially called), most everything is a tourist ripoff and some restaurants have obtrusive touts standing in front of their door to bring in tourists, this... Not to be missed. Fonfone is cheaper, better, friendlier, and more authentic than a lot of the other places in the Mariscal. Don't miss the Mote Sucio and the Locro de Papas!

Fonfone is off the main street from the loud, colorful monstrosity that is Plaza Foch. This quaint and warm cafe is usually filled with Ecuadorian clients and traveling backpackers alike. They have great menu items like huge tasty juices, EXCELLENT coffee, great lasagna, great loco de papas, a very nice "mote sucio" (which is a seasoned hominy dish), and a... More

I've been to Ecuador and Quito several times since 2006, and during each visit, I end up spending a great deal of my time in Fonfoné. I got to know this wonderful little place during my very first day in Quito, as I was "lured in" by the sign advertising "breakfast all day long". Since then, I've been going back... More

I've been to Quito several times and can't get enough of Fonfone. Catalina is so warm and welcoming and provides a great place to grab a quick (and delicious) bite any time of day, hang out and do your own thing, or just let the time pass with anyone and everyone that may pass through the doors (and trust me... Fonfone Cafe is one of the cutest cafes I've ever visited! Catalina (the owner) is kind and friendly. Every time I visited I felt at home. If you go don't forget to try a "legit" Ecuadorian locro de papas and the amazing jugos! They are both incredible!! The music and atmosphere are great--full of locals and foreigners that get off...
