Visited this place with the use of the Entertainer voucher which offered 1 for 1 mains. Restrictions was placed on the use of the voucher where we had to order from the same category of food (pasta with pasta, burger with burger), etc. I understand that every restaurant has its own entertainer policy, but this policy implementation was the first... We wanted a place to go to that was quiet and laid back but was pet friendly. This is your place. The alfresco outdoor seating - undercover - is the pet friendly area - so this is convenient and easy to get to. Indoors is for unaccompanied humans so you have a/c and a quiet indoor setting if that is... More

The food is simple and nice, but nothing to ring home about. The main interest is that it is a pet-friendly neighborhood café.

I just went to this place, I must say my main dish (Chicken burger) was very nice but the desert was only ok. I was disappointed because they advertise it as "cookies crumble" and I was expected a crumble but it was just cookies chunks with ice-cream and chocolate sauce. Maybe I misunderstood it but still the cookies tasted a... More

Sunday morning dawdle around the East Coast on my uncool ( ask my kids) fold up bicycle. Had heard of this place and sort of stumbled upon it. Funky ( or run down depending on your perspective) space. Fully intended to have some sort of big fry up- I had ridden a leisurely 5 kms. Spotted gluten free pancakes on... More

We used to stay a lane away and often ate here before our 7 year posting to China. So it was nice to be able to come back and see that the owners are still around and it is still a laid-back place to chill out. If you bring your dogs, you can hang out at the tables outside. We... More

We had some friends for dinner and looked for somewhere close by to take out. We found the garden slug online. They were very accommodating and we ordered over the phone and collected 20 minutes later. Food was well prepared and portions were generous. Packing was also good. When we collected food surroundings were not the salubrious by cannot fault... More

Food was delicious. Enjoyed the cosy place. Desert was especially good. Artistic decorations were to my taste.

I have been coming here for years. From the time I was an undergraduate, to my first job, and my bf and I even had our first date here! (: I've brought my family here numerous times, both local and from overseas. This place holds so many memories for me! Above everything else, the best thing is we can bring... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighbourhood is packed with colourful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
