Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited this restaurant a few years ago and it was great! Here today and it's excellent! Ice cold beer and hot curries available, ideal for the British aboard!

One of the most atmospheric restaurants in Little India -- forever packed with diners who sit, often sharing space, at big wooden tables, while the numerous staff hurry from the kitchen with trays of steaming food. The lamb shank curry is amazing. If you like...Indian food, you will like Banana Leaf. It was recommended by our concierge at the Mandarin Oriental in Singapore, and we did not regret it.More

Abusive staff who behave as if the customer is doing them a favour by ordering from them Beware of this place. The food portions are so stingy it’s insane how people dine here. If you order 3 orders of chicken masala you’ll receive all 3...orders in ond tiny box but you’re paying for 3 but only receiving one essentially. Very crooked business along with a bad attitude and Chellapan the founder should be ashamed of his son who’s become the CEO of this restaurant and has single handedly destroyed it. Rude staff. Do not waste your time eating here.More

Comments from Members “Lovely place” “I loved this place. Great buzz and felt well looked after by the staff. Uncle Charles was an absolute legend! The never ending popadoms was an ideal solution for beers and chatting. Wasn’t a bad drop of red they gave us too. The chicken tikka was a very good one off the starter menu. I enjoyed all the main dishes, particularly butter chicken & mysore, we ordered but we lacked a bit of sauce I think, that was probably down to our ordering though.” “It is what it is. A large brightly lit dining hall of a curry house. It was refreshing to feel comfortable being loud. Food was good as always. Wine surprisingly drinkable for the cheapest choice. There was a feeling that they might have tried to upsell us on a few items and there was some minor food wastage but we can presume they only wanted the mighty group to try a bit of everything, by the way they looked us up online and then chanted 'OCC OCC OCC' when they walked by. Lovely meet.” “Great to have a large meet again. Staff were nice and accommodating but didn’t go over and above. Felt food was below standard and Mysore was weaker than most we’ve had before. Most enthusiastic staff ever about the OCC” “Loved the vibe in there. Busy. Lively. Lots going on. Food was good not great but that maybe because of filled up on the never ending poppadoms. We were well looked after and loved their enthusiasm for the club. Nice one.” “I’d like to have gone after a night out. It has that vibe” “This was a great venue for a big crowd. Atmosphere was great, place was jumping. the staff couldn’t do enough for us and were super quick to bring out extra orders. I didnt feel like we had to wait for anything, and the staff were constantly checking in. the old boy even googled us and was getting involved which was great. Food was great. highlight for me was the fish and the paneer. I enjoy the aesthetic of the banana leaf and it was a great leaf of food once all laid out. I enjoyed everything. 90 bucks isn’t the cheapest but not terrible. would defo go back”More

We had dinner here on our last night, unfortunately the worst we had. Rice they serve is a joke, cheapest rice at Aldi supermarket is way better than this, paid S$10.8 just for the rice. Of course, the bad rice makes the dishes taste not...really good either. Also, they messed up first order, took a while so I was basically done till my wife got the right food. She had Prawn Mango Curry and could nicely fish out all prawns from the curry as they were not pealed in the kitchen. Really sad experience to finish our trip here.More

At lunchtime we ordered and shared Malaba Chicken, Prawn Tikka and Gobi 65 (fried cauliflower) . The service was OK but the postprandial experience was offensive as I became unwell for the rest of the afternoon and then up all night with cramps, nausea and...D&V. One particular piece of chicken I consumed was slightly pink and undercooked and I believe this did the damage. My advice to future customers is “be wary”.More

After planning our visit to little India in Singapore for the sole purpose of eating delicious food, we decided to dine here. The food was outstanding and the size of the serving was more than filling. Their lime juice is worth writing home about! While...the food and service was amazing, the restaurant itself was a bit dingy and the bathrooms were truly disgusting and not well maintained.More

The worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant in my life - and i lived in Belgium for 10 years😬. Went with my son on his last Friday in Singapore - as i know from past experience this is a good restaurant. No...interest from the staff in serving us - got the order wrong several times and took over 45 mins to bring us the first item in our order, cold. Had to wait another 15 for the rest to arrive. It wasn’t even particularly busy. Later when we had waited for our dessert for 30 mins (which didn’t arrive) the staff switched off the lights on our side of the restaurant effectively ejecting us and a party at another table and threw the bill on our table. Meanwhile the other half of the restaurant was still being served. Food was very ordinary too and overpriced. No apology at any point. Staff appeared to be arguing most of the time. Hard to fathom all the good reviews. very depressing experience.More

Glad we made the effort to walk that bit further out of the centre of little India to get here. Came fairly early and restaurant was quiet, but that soon changed. Excellent service from the staff, then the food. Wide range of choices but we...had a lamb and a chicken with dhal and the most fantastic cauliflower dish. Add onion pakora naan and rice and we were truly happy. Would recommend wholeheartedlyMore
