A most novel experience. The menu is a mystery (of cos, you tell them if you have any restrictions); it changes every two months. I don’t want to spoil any surprises for you... let’s just say: it’s pitch dark during the meal (for once, put your handphone in their locker, and truly enjoy your company); time flies very quickly while immersed in the dark; the food spread is really good (you will be quizzed before being shown what you ate, during a debrief); and the price is quite reasonable.

Dear Derrick,
We thank you for the time taken to write such a wonderful review after dining in NOX. Our VI (Visually Impaired) team will be delighted to hear that they had made your evening a memorable one.
It is truly an experience that not everyone may understand to be without their handphones. It is indeed an experience that may blow your mind as long as you come here with an open mind. We at NOX, thank you for the recommendation and your review

Food: Opted for the Valentine‘s menu, which is the same as the regular menu, but comes with appetiser, welcome drink and a rose. The menu changes regularly. We did not order any other drink (costs extra btw). You get to taste a huge range of food; 12 dishes. Overall, the food is good, but nothing out of the world per say. It’s more of an experience than anything. Also, please tell them if you have any dislike or dietary restrictions beforehand and they will cater for you accordingly.
Experience: Everyone should try it once, as the food really does aim at fooling your senses. Guessing what you ate at the end is where the fun is and of course the discussion about what you ate when you are dining in the dark.
Service: Stellar service especially our waiter, Liew (they are all blind btw), who took great care of us for the whole meal; leading us up to the dining area and serving and clearing our food. If I have to nitpick, we did have to wait a bit to get to guessing the dish part. Probably because they are fully booked for the night.
Value: It’s pricy, but it’s tough to put a price tag on an experience. I would recommend to try the normal menu at least once, which is more gentle on the wallet. It’s best to avoid Valentine‘s Day if so as they only serve the pricier Valentine’s menu on the day.

This experience is like no other. Having read some reviews on Trip Advisor with all being favourable, it was evident that it had to be experienced. We were sat down for a pre dinner drink and taste teaser for what was ahead. The staff then introduced us to our blind waiter that was looking after us for the evening. He took us to the main dining reassuring us that we would be safe and also had a light hearted and comical approach to the unseeing. Without giving to much away to spoil it for others all I can say is this dinner was worth every penny for the experience and the food was delicious also. We take for our sight for granted and for this to be temporarily removed and allow other senses to lead the way was intense. Give this a go. Thank you to all staff, especially Bernard our waiter.

The concept is such that it is a pitch black dining environment. The guests are required to use all other senses to help them identify the dishes while having them. I believe they violated a few health codes already. I found a lipstick mark on my tea cup when we had drinks before heading up to the dark room. Obviously it wasn't washed or washed properly. I can't believe they would be this complacent in the midst of a pandemic. The guys who run the place (2 local men, an Indian & a Malay) brazenly wore their masks on their chins. The Malay guy, whom I believe is the maitre d, had his mask on his chin the whole time - including when talking to guests. I can't help but feel he was defiantly doing so.
The only good thing was Bernard, the blind waiter. He was entertaining & tried his best to keep everything going.
The food was not great. Could tell it was pre-cooked. You are better off eating at home, blindfolded, since the only takeaway was the experience.
After dinner, we were given surveys to fill up and decided not to as we would have given very negative feedback. However, when the Malay guy interviewed us, my partner expressed that the dining in the dark experience he had in Bangkok was more pleasant. At which, the Malay guy simply swept his feedback under the carpet and said my partner was "used to" the Bangkok restaurant. Very shady.
We also heard the Indian & Malay guys rushing Bernard to get the rest of the guests down as it was already past 11pm. They made sure to loudly emphasize the time. No regard for professionalism at all.
For the record, we experienced the shade right when we walked in. We were right on time (maybe earlier) for our reservation, but were greeted with frenzy. The Malay guy welcomed us (I was on the phone during this time), so my partner told him the name of our reservation. In response, he turned & walked off! The atmosphere on the ground floor was very frantic.
When he returned, he asked my partner the same thing. My partner repeated himself, to which the Malay guy responded that there was "no such reservation" without checking. We tried again, but again, he responded that there was "no such reservation". I had to get off the phone with my client, find the confirmation email and only then, he manages to find the reservation. Absolutely unprofessional!
The rest of the time, they were rushing us to head up to the 2nd floor & showed disapproval when we weren't ready (taking photos and such). When we were ready to go up, a bartender came over to tell us to wait a moment and basically to sit back down. It was an environment where relaxing is futile as it was like walking on eggshells.

Hi Ms Faith Yeo,
Firstly allow me to take full responsibility for your disappointing dining experience and extend my fullest apology to you.
Our team of VIs(Visually Impaired), Kitchen crew came to learn and hear about your unpleasant experience and are too sincerely sorry to hear the bad experience. It would have been fair to the team if you had given your feedback in the restaurant before you left.
It is truly sad to know that after all the effort put in by the team to ensure every diner has a good experience and to ensure food allergies are done without errors. No guests are left feeling this way as we strive to be better in service.
I do sincerely hope and urge you to consider any F&B team that puts in the effort in any dining establishment that you visit in the future before you decide to rate them online as it does affect us as a ‘Family in NOX’. We don't take it for granted.
Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you.

The experience is A..mazing.
Just like the multitudes of flavours one might experience in each of the course, I actually came back with more than what I paid for!
I had no expectations whatsoever and I must say I got more than I bargained for, in this Dining in the Dark experience.
Dining in the dark totally opens up a new dimension for me as I not only experienced what it is like to eat in the absence of light but depend on my other senses to complete the experience. Infact I could also say it was an emotional one.
The variety of tasty dishes was a definite welcome to my palate.I had 12 different dishes! Something I wasn't expecting. Every dish seemed prepared with the sole intention of tickling every taste bud, so one can enjoy the experience.
The staff.. To me it was the highlight of the occasion. I had the pleasure of being served by Halimi who was nothing short of stellar. He was so interesting and full of life that just adds light to the whole atmosphere. Pun intended.
Of course the rest of the staff were good too but Halimi is a star.
I came out of the place with a full stomach , mix of emotions and a wealth of experience.
Highly recommended place !

Disappointing to be back the second time. They had better food and service when they first opened. This time we came and left hungrier than we were.
Other than the great service from our wait staff Liew, everything else was just horrible and definitely not worth the hefty price tag.
It is worrying that the staffs had their mask on their chin almost all the time, even when talking to us. Certainly not a sight to see in this COVID-19 pandemic.
Mediocre service at ground level. I wasn’t even acknowledged after standing 5 minutes at the entrance. The staffs are rushing because everyone came at the same time. Service on 2nd level was slow. We had to wait at least 15 minutes in between courses.
Food is worse! 12 pathetic small bowls of 3-course food. When it’s served, food is barely warm or simply cold. The Chef needs to rethink on the sequence and placement of food. Think palette opener and lingering tastes. Foie gras as the last dish of appetiser is not what we want on our taste buds right before the main course.
Honestly, with the price tag, you’re better off spending at a fine dining restaurant.

Normal wait time at the lounge is between 20-30 mins before heading to level 2. We inform all guests its a 1.5-2hrs in total for the experience.
Everyone has a different palate and we go thru several rounds of tasting before we finalize our dishes to be served to our guest. Having a Foie Gras as one of our appetiser is a very common in the European cuisine. We always aim to provide the best experience possible to all our diners. If the food we serve was truly bad, that paying for it was a 'rip off', I would like to invite yourself back if you allowed us to.

Slightly pricey but the ingredients used for the food and the entire dining experience is worth the price. Had to wait for quite a while before we head up to the dining area because they assign one host to each table. Food is amazing, enjoyed every single dish. They change the menu every two months to keep the dining experience fresh. Environment is completely dark and it takes a while to figure out where is the wine and food. Love how they hire visually impaired staff and gave them job opportunities. Definitely worth a visit, remember to make your reservation early!

Dining in the dark indeed. Inside the restaurant it's pitch black. The blind waiters bring you to your table and help you get seated. They explain the concept; a 3 course meal divided over 4 small dishes (well bowls actually). Since you can't see a thing you have to touch around for everything. Quite an unique experience as you have no idea what's in front of you. Turns out that sight helps a lot to identify food as it was afterwards not easy to name the various foods we had. We enjoyed it very much.

I had no idea what this would be like. From getting to the bar for pre drinks and amuse Bouche it was excellent. The staff looked after us so well. We were introduced to our server Louie, who was completely blind. From then on we were totally in his hands. I am not great in the dark but Louie was wonderful making sure we felt comfortable. We had 14 small plates of food and we really enjoyed trying to guess what the ingredients were but to be honest we weren’t that good. We also had cocktails too. The food was delicious, they had asked beforehand about allergies or dislikes, and not being able to see what you were eating was really interesting for foodies like us. After the meal we were safely led downstairs again were we got some lovely desserts and more Prosecco and then we were given forms to write down what we believed we had eaten and drank. The staff showed us pictures of the food and some of the items were items you would never think of putting together and they all worked really well. Apart from coming out with a small idea of what sight impaired people have to cope with on a day to day basis it was an excellent experience and I would definitely suggest anyone else going to Dine in the Dark.

I took my wife and two kids for dinner and the experience was unique to me in two ways. First, we dined in a pitch dark area where we couldn't see anything (and I mean anything!), so we had to rely on touch and feel to enjoy our dinner. Our guide Liew was awesome - he was always there when we needed him and he made us feel very comfortable in an unfamiliar setting. Second, since we had to leave everything that could illuminate in the lockers, we talked a lot during the dinner as a family, without distraction (from our cell phones) and a sense of time.
Each course in the three course meal consists of four small dishes that complemented well with each other, providing different taste profiles and mouthfeel.
The experience has raised my awareness on the visually impaired and I felt very grateful to be able to see.

Great concept and staff were friendly.
We enjoyed the experience and food though the portions could have been bigger.
The staff engaged us well after the dinner to explain what we actually ate as opposed to what was perceived by us in pitch darkness.
I'd recommend this restaurant for the experience but not so much for the food.

Curiousity, Adventure and Surprise!
.
[A unique experience one has to try]
Only using the sense of HEARING, SMELL and TASTE, we were forced to Dine in the Dark.😅
.
Guided by our friendly waiter who was visually impaired, we were astounded by how confident and swift he was when serving food. He did not use a walking stick to guide the way. Instead, he echolocated, making clicks with his mouth. So Kool!
.
To add on, he remembered our names and addressed us everytime a new dish was arriving.👍🏽 Kudos to you.

Went for a meal with my boyfriend for his birthday and was served by Anusha. All staff played a very big part in building up anticipation for the meal and was a great experience. Anusha also made an effort to keep checking on us to make sure we were comfortable and we had a lot of fun as we had a no-distraction meal for 3 hours discussing about what we think the food was. Overall it was a great experience to have although you're paying a premium price for it.

Personally I think it is really a one of a kind unique dinning experience where you get to test your sense of taste and smell. It also makes you feel how it is like for the staffs who are visually impaired who are not as fortunate to have the gift of sight. They are however so cheerful and giving such great and fantastic serve! Makes you really appreciate our gift of sight even more as well.
After the dinning experience, the staff will also reveal what you ate in the dark and makes the whole experience even more meaningful. Kudos to the excellent team both front and kitchen.

We will do an internal review once again on our prices to ensure a fairly priced dinner experience for all our guests. It is customers like you that makes us aim to do better and better each day and to know that someone came and did not have a pleasant experience shows us that we have more room for improvements.
We look forward to welcome you back again after we have made improvements to our food quality, service standards and cocktail recipes. Thank you and stay safe!
