I like the vibe of the place; however I was a little disappointed by my visit. The cashier was friendly but the lady who brought out my food was a little dismissive - she just plunked the food down on the table and walked away....More

Right on the busy Smith Street, you can sneak away from the noise by entering Ci Yan. The menu changes everyday, and the food will most likely run out by around 9.30pm so go early! You enter an establishment decorated as if you've entered an...More

The owner has a menu but directs everyone to his specials on the chalkboard. When asking he keeps pushing for No 1 on the board so I ordered that. My husband wanted something different but he insisted No 1 was best so we ordered it....More

Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful
sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling
sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its
blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an
Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit
almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony
continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to
the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill.

Description
We read about this restaurant in the official guide to Chinatown published by the Singapore Tourism Board, and we were lucky enough to find it on a recent visit to Chinatown. It's a small restaurant run by a husband and wife that serves a set menu of organic, vegetarian Chinese food. The menu changes each day, and during our lunch there were 3 choices: a vegetarian wrap, brown rice set, or a delicious tofu/noodle dish. The owner was very welcoming, spoke English, and suggested a meal for us since it was our first visit. The prices were very reasonable, and it had a nice, quiet atmosphere with pictures of the Dalai Lama and Buddhist statues on the walls. The restaurant has already been reviewed on Hungry Go Where, a food review site for Singapore: http://www.hungrygowhere.com/singapore/ci_yan_organic_vegetarian_health_food/
