In the middle of everything and has a very good breakfast and dinner menu. Really enjoyed the proper hot showers they offer.

We stayed here for three nights; our first two and final nights (with the 2-day trek in between) and this was a wonderful place to stay. Friendly, clean and nice rooms. WiFi doesn’t really reach the rooms, so you need to be downstairs in the...restaurant for it, but that’s fine. You aren’t in the Philippines for super-fast WiFi anyways. One day, the water was hot for a few minutes, and another day the water was hot for a long time. We didn’t have any issues not having hot water! If it starts getting cold, turn off the water entirely and then turn it back on and it would come out hot again Overall, the food was quite good as well. Of course, keep your expectations manageable in Banaue because you won’t find the best food in the world here. But it’s relatively inexpensive and adequate food. We were happy with our breakfasts and our dinner here. Also.. DO the trek! I’m assuming you probably are, since you know.... you’re in Banaue... but DO the trek. It’s incredible. And this is a lovely place to stay!More

A few steps away from the town centre, the restaurant is also a lodge and is always full of foreign tourists. The food is tasty and very affordable. There is a small souvenir store attached to the restaurant so you can browse and shop while...waiting for your food. Service can be a bit slow at peak times. Had a quick dinner there, nothing special, it wasn't great, it wasn't bad, just like everywhere else in Banaue. You can get cash out there (with a 10% fee), as there is no functioning ATM in the area.

The food is so salty we could not eat it. Of course it was cold. Breakfast was bad as well and one morning it took 60 minutes to get a cold pancake. I have no idea why intrepid stays here.

We stumbled upon Uyami returning from a great experience in Sagada (see my other review). I was a late night and the more inexpensive hostel we planned to stay at was filled. At first Uyami was a welcomed find. It was well lit, clean and...their restaurant was open. Once we settled into our room, I started to see things that bothered me. Firstly the menu at the restaurant was all Western food; spaghetti and fried chicken. Having been traveling around the Philippines seeing lots of Filipino travelers and eating local, I came to value authentic differences in the various regions of the Philippines. Most locals have a pride about how their tribe evolved and contributed to a diverse Philippines. It was disappointed to that missing from Uyami. Instead they focused on catering to Western travelers. However, being disappointed isn't the reason for my low rating. It was their illegal credit card practices that drove my review down. Uyami, much like some surrounding businesses, charge 5% more for using credit cards. This is an illegal practice in the country, just google it. When asked about it, they offered a pathetic excuse that they had to rent the machine from the bank and that it was the bank charging us, not them. For all businesses, this is a business expense like electricity, water and heat. It's a terrible practice that cheats customers. My ranting aside, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Not luxurious by any means, but sufficient for the traveling backpacker. WiFi is only offered in the evenings and slowed down during business hours. The environment is homely as the little girl, presumably related to the owner, runs around greeting the various travelers. Uyami is a middle of the road accommodations that is generally good. However, the business practices of the family is questionable and visitors beware.More
