The taro and the spring rolls were amazing. I opted not to get the imitation meat. The noodles were really good too.
We loved the vegetarian meal which we had during our visit to the Po Lin Monastery and the Big Bhudda. We opted to pay the extra on our entrance and chose the deluxe option. We were not disappointed. We had a large, tasty meal in...an authentic restaurant which is all part of the monastery complex. Well worth the money an dit all goes to boost the funds for the upkeep.More
As non vegetarians we struggled to eat the meal. All reviews were positive so we went in with open minds and hungry bellies, ready to be converted. Unfortunately for us, it didn't tick boxes. The stir-fry, mushrooms and desert thing were well presented and looked...ok. The soup was very unappealing. We were very aware it was monastery food and conscious of the beliefs and ideals - ie non-wastage. We put this down to an experience and donation. Restaurant as expected was basic, and service was quick despite there being a number of different groups. For the record, we spent time in a Buddhist temple in South Korea and the food there was also strictly vegetarian, however much more palatable.More
We recently visited this restaurant for lunch during our trip to Po Lin monastery. Vegetarian meals are served family style and are rather simple though fairly good and well prepared. It is probably one of the better, if not the only one, places for lunch...at the monastery when visiting big Buddha. EnjoyMore
On holidays in Hong Kong, we decided to visit the Po Lin Monastery Vegetarian Restaurant. They have very delicious meals, for strict vegetarians this is just the best restaurant for you and also affordable.
Vegan or not vegan? It doesn't matter, you'll enjoy the food they prepare at Po Lin Monastery. Sweet or salty? You'll enjoy both there. Try the mango smoothie there. It's too die for.
This is a vegetarian restaurant so do not look for any meat! But what you get is filling and doesn’t cost the earth! (Excuse the pun!) You can get the snack free if you go into the exhibition at the Buddha. Only cost £4.40 each.
Had lunch here and was hugely impressed — corn chowder, tofu skins with lemon, lovely fresh vegetable stirfry. Informal setting but tremendously enjoyable.
It was raining cats and dogs outside, but we were made to feel very welcome in the restaurant. The setting is quite rustic but the food was very good.
This restaurant is located in the monastery grounds and provides a great alternative to the expensive touristy restaurants in the village. There are two options available - a set menu (with multi-course items) or ala carte order from the cafe. We went with the latter...as it gave us the flexibility to pick and chose what we wanted to eat. We ate some really tasty fried vegetables, tofu, noodles, bean curd and mango pudding!More
Fixed sets for 1 to 8 persons served by monastery kitchen. Very good quality of vegetarian only meals. Served quickly in nice and calm environment. Recommended after visiting Tian Tan Buddha statue. Money goes to monastery.
The food was absolutely delicious, the staff were great, friendly and welcoming. A great start to day one of our trip.
Visiting the Big Buddha and Po Lin this is a great option to take a well earned break on your tour. Lots of taste treats served in a number of restaurants and cafes behind Po Lin. Try the dim sum and dumplings with chili sauce...- they are amazingMore
I loved visiting this place but this food is so horrible. It is essentially mushrooms mixed with corn starch and tossed at your table. also, all around the place it says NO PHOTOS - yet everyone is snapping pictures. The toilets in the back are...literal holes in the ground, so I'm not sure if I spent my night vomiting from the food or from that. It was a really difficult night. avoid eating here at all costs.More
