Tried out the restaurant after hearing /seeing many good reviews. Food was good but not mind-blowing. The stand out dish was hands-down the hot and sour soup. The restaurant was probably more catered to the westerners with some dishes a little too "watered down". A restaurant I would bring my western friends to!

So looking forward to this dining experience. Fortunately, our hosts are regulars at this establishment, and knew just what to order. Everything was beautifully presented and tasty. The only disappointment for me was the beef dish, but then I prefer chicken, pork, and duck. I didn't leave hungry. I can't wait to go back!! Yum

Different from what one would expect - not a traditional Chinese establishment, but still very true to the spirit. Food is exquisite, and service quick and friendly. Perhaps a bit pricey, but the overall experience compensates for it. A solid recommendation if one is into Chinese cuisine.

This place never disappoints. Very consistent and tucked away it a quiet central location. Great artwork on the wall and available to buy if you fancy it. There isn't a dish on the menu that disappoints. Be careful some of the dishes are spicy Sichuan style so they have some quick to it. Service is quite quick and pleasant but... More

The duck was very good but generally the food was adequate but no more, described best as uninspiring. The service was poor - we had to ask three times for our vegetarian dishes to arrive and when they did everyone had lost the enthusiasm for them. The price of the meal was disproportionately high for the quality we had received.

Disappointing ,deep fried tiger prawns tasteless followed by Peking Duck great if you like lots of skin, fat and a little tough cold duck.Service very quick to start and then at the end waiting 20 min for someone to take dessert order, gave up paid bill. Not cheap and not good.

Very quiet restaurant and food is just okay. You can go to other restaurants and get better food at cheaper prices. It is a sign when the restaurant did not have at least one customer with the same ethic background of the restaurant. Only foreigners here.

Centrally located in Hong Kong Central, The Monogamous Chinese restaurant is a pleasant experience for both vegetarians and others. From the tofu to the egg fried rice, even the regular food is well spiced and flavoured. Go for it.

The menu mostly includes deep fried dishes. One young lady at the restaurant was extremely unhelpful when we requested a simple soup off the menu for one guest as he was unwell. She did not even consult the chef to ask if this could be done. Even though we were a group of five and although we ordered food for... More

Nice little find this one - great if you're new to Hong Kong or have visitors in town. Very nice traditional set menu - Dim Sum; crispy duck pancakes, etc. Restaurant also very atmospherically decorated with lots of Chinese art on the walls. Would definitely go back. We went to farewell a friend back to Australia and it was a... More

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
