We have been coming here for years and still never disappoints. The cha Siu bao is great as is the Sichuan dumplings. The sticky rice pudding and the dumplings in fish soup. Service is always good. Just one point is it is always very cold in there as the air condition is on max and so bring a jumper.

We were the only non-Asians there, maybe that's why? I don't know, but the service was so slow and forgot parts of our order and were not very friendly - they had "doing you a favor by bringing food" attitude - I did not like that. The food, once it got to the table, was really good. Spicy and full... More

After some hesitations between American dinner or a traditional Chinese hot pot, we ended up booking a table for 5 people in San Xi Lou as our craving for a nice, warm and spicy dinner stands out than a steak and french fries type of meal. Upon arriving at the restaurant, a smiling and sensitive waitress welcomed us, offering right... More

My wife and I had lived in China for some years and are no strangers to Sichuan fare. We descended upon this restaurant last night not to have an exhaustive meal but simply to try a few items from the menu. Obviously hot pot is the big item here, but we had a kind of fish-head braised in red pepper... More

The food here is great, the staff are attendance and friendly and the ambience is nice too. This place reminds me of some of the places I've been to in Chengdu. The Sichuan hotpot is really authentic and worth the expense (which isnt cheap). Between two of us we spent HK$800, although we probably orders more food than we need... More

My Brother booked this for a family meal as he has eaten here on a regular basis so it came highly recommended. As an individual who cannot tolerate spice or heat, it was a challenge for me. You have GOT to love your spices and have a high tolerance to heat. Sadly, that was not me. Despite this, the food... More

Even the aroma as you walk in the door is magical. Fabulous food, spicy, delicious, incredible. We shared several vegetarian dishes, each one was soooo delicious!

This was the first time I've truly experienced the mind and taste-bud numbing effects of no-holds barred Szechuan spices. (My prior experiences were limited to U.S. Szechuan restaurants). Recommendation: The Tsing Dao beer seemed to work best as an antidote to the searing spice heat. I now truly appreciate how well Tsing Dao beer accompanies Szechuan food - it was... More

Such a brilliant restaurant hidden away in a secluded building, who would have thought!! Came here with a few friends and while the food was mouth watering to look at, it was mouth numbing after having a few bites! They have some items that are made up of beef or fish which are soaked in crazy amounts of spicy looking... More

I loved my meal here. Dining solo in HK was challenging at times as it seems nearly every restaurant is family style. I was able to get a few dishes (Ma La Tang Diced Chicken; Jelly Noodles half portion; individual dim sum items) and had a nice varied (big) lunch. The balance of the ma la tang (Sichuan peppercorn) at... More

‘San Xi Lou’ derives its name from the Qianlong Emperor’s Imperial Study ‘San Xi Tang’, built to house the emperor’s collection of calligraphies. All calligraphies bearing the seal of ‘San Xi Tang’ are known as priceless treasures.

Continuing the tradition of the Imperial Study ‘San Xi Tang’, dishes created from San Xi Lou’s kitchen are also truly unique culinary treasures!
