Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very nice staff and very good seafood in the Fort Jesus in Mombasa. Recommended once you are in the town and like a traditional dish.

We went there for lunch. The man who served was very polite and talked to us (we were the only guests). We got fish with rice and mixed vegetables and something to drink for 10$ each. The fish cloud have been softer but I liked...the coconut sauce and especially the vegetables a lot.More

Really good food for good prices (between and 500 Schilling). Good homemade lemonades alias non alcoholic cocktails. Free WiFi and stylish furnishing. Also recommended in the lonely planet 2018 edition. Really worth a visit!

We ate dinner here two times in our recent visit to Mombasa. Like many local places in Old Town Mombasa, food is cooked during the day, then you choose what you want dished up from their buffet dishes. Fish and seafood are frozen daily and...are available on request. The first evening we had pinto beans in coconut, cassava in coconut, pilau rice and vegetables sautéed with curry powder. Everything was very tasty and portions were generous; it was much more than the two of us could manage. It cost us less than US$ 5.00! The following day we came back for seafood. We had three jumbo prawns grilled with curry. Unfortunately, the curry really only flavored the skins of the shrimp and was mostly lost when peeled for eating. We had a whole grilled fish known locally as "safi." It was scored and curried, but again most of the curry was lost when peeling off the skin. It was a light, mild fish, not as meaty as a Nile perch. We repeated the curried sautéed vegetables that we enjoyed before, and filled it all in with steamed rice and one chapati. The meal cost about US$ 7.00. The owner, Ahmed, is a personable young local man. He enticed us into drinking one of his juice/soda 'cocktails' that he called "Get to Heaven.' Soda water, fresh squeezed lemon, mint leaves and honey. It was perfect in the heat of the day.More
