In Luxor for another 4 weeks, it is becoming a bit of a tradition that we eat here at least once as a refreshing change from the local food we often eat. So it was once again Mince Patties and Potato (The menu says the same but in German) and Mrs eLaReF had an off-menu, piece of chicken with mash.... More

We had come over to Luxor on an overnight excursion from our Red Sea resort and wanted some nice Arabic cuisine for dinner. The quality of the food was even better than we had expected, at a much lower price. At this small family restaurant, Gerda and Wael take great care in looking after their guests. Among the tasty starters... More

Gerda provided lunch for the school staff. Ever staff member had a guest with them and a number of children attended. A total of 23 in all. The lunch consisted of soup, sandwiches and rice, with salad as side dishes. The lunch was absolutely perfect. Everyone felt relaxed and comfortable. Thank you Gerda, Wael and family.

The food was excellent with an emphasis on home cooking. We ate moussaka and liver and onions, a rare treat outside the home, definitely the best food in Luxor. The service was genuinely cheery. If you are staying at the Hilton you can walk across the road with no trouble. Definitely worth a visit.

We usually have 4 week stays in Luxor and eat a lot of local food, but at times, you yearn for something from home (or 'nearby' anyway) So it was back here for Meatloaf & Mash and Mince Patties with Fried Potato. That's not what the menu calls them, (mine was officially Frikadellen & Bratkarttoffeln) but when my my grandmother... More

The German food is amazing and the Egyptian specialities aren't lacking either. Some of the best baba ganoush ever. This restaurant, right across from the Hilton, is a must visit for anyone in Luxor.

My wife and I ate dinner twice at Gerda's Garden when in Luxor. The food was excellent and the service and atmosphere were exceptional. The owners are very kind and welcoming. We had Egyptian cuisine the first night and Irish stew the second night. We loved it.

We were a group of 6 ranging from age 10 through to 50+. We wanted to experience authentic Egyptian food and was recommended to eat here by our Egyptian guide. We were alittle apprehensive as we thought it was only German food, but was assured that Egyptian food was also on the menu. We was not disappointed the food was... More

I visited Gerda's restaurant with my family during our stay in Luxor, it is right opposite the Hilton and it was a great alternative to the hotel food, and also worth the taxi ride up to Karnak. We loved it! Gerda and her husband are so welcoming and completely charming, and our food was cooked fresh as we ordered it.... More
