I wanted to have some moroheya soup, which wasn't on the menu, but it was in past reviews, so I showed them a picture and they are! He replied, "I'm sorry. The amount of each dish is large and the cost is the strongest. Of course it was delicious. It was the best restaurant I could find, with a small number of orders and a couple who didn't speak English, and despite not being good customers, they were patient and attentive. It said in the shop that we would not be demanding tips, and we really were! And I can't believe it's that customer service! I've been to many countries on my travels, and I want to write about this restaurant by word of mouth for the first time! I thought so.

Certainly iconic and unmissable restaurant but we rely a little too much on our notoriety. Deplorable service despite the will to do well but unmanaged team. It is proposed to bring the dessert when we have just served the starters and the hot dish is not yet served. Once the hot dish is served and finished we are brought the bill while there is still dessert and we have not asked for anything. Finally dessert arrives one for two (basically two ordered) finally the addition or 2 desserts charged (check the addition well) we ask to rectify this was complicated we tried to impose the second forgotten dessert but after the fact it was more topical. Very complicated to change an invoice.... Too bad.

We were warned that this restaurant was an overpriced tourist trap to be avoided. However we decided to try it anyway and were glad that we did. The elderly wait staff were nice and friendly especially Latif and Taha. The food was delicious especially the boneless grilled chicken, fried prawns and chicken escalope. Their falafel was excellent too. The prices were high but not exorbitant. The atmosphere was magical in what's obviously a Cairo institution. We loved the vintage decor.

If you want to be ripped off with mediocre food, this is the place. We were offered a selection of dishes for all for 620 AGP (about 12 euros). A normal price for three. On the bill we paid that per person, which is really beyond. Typical Egypt rip-off. Don't go there. The food was still lame on top.

Initially was a nice small street food shop with real Egyptian falafel. Now it's a big tourist trap. The falafel is great, tahina is amazing. The serving, waitress and the rest of the food is below avarage. Expect to pay more than you order, they will add items or increase the number of items in the bill. They added cover charge as an item in the bill. Taxes and vat not in the price menu, but this is normal in Egipt. Om Ali was sad, some plain bread with hot milk on top and some nuts.... The bill was 6000egp for 8 ppl. I don't recommend this place for anything else besides falafel.

I don't understand why everyone praises this place. It's suffocatingly hot inside, there are only fans here and there, without a lick of air conditioning. The prices are not that low and the food mediocre, with very small portions. Furthermore they no longer had any fruit or ice cream and the service was very inattentive.

Poor service, expensive food, small portions, meat that was tough as boot leather and extremely expensive drinks. Staff hassled for additional tips on top of the service charge and were very grumpy when we refused. On top of this a rat ran through the restaurant during our meal. It is a place that is living on its past reputation, one it no longer deserves. So sad as I used to love this place.

The cuisine is rather good, very disappointed with the attitude of the waiter “Khaled” at the end of the meal We left 15% more on the bill knowing that the tip is understood; the reaction of the waiter shocked us; he counts the tickets in front of us and leaves us an “okay” cold without even watching us make us understand that our tip did not only officiate him. Logic and propriety would have required a simple thank you. We must stop believing that all tourists are millionaires is an infinite source of money. I advise against

Arrived at 9:30 p.m., no more falafel at fefela! Lentil soup served in a small ramekin, tahina in an even tinier one, for unjustified prices, and finally the most expensive local Stella beer in the city center. At 10:30 p.m. we were the last in the restaurant in a town where you can dine until two in the morning... no wonder the customers fled... Too bad, Felfela was an institution, with its kitschy decor which hasn't changed since the 1970s. For us at least it's over

Granted we were a party of ten and that it is Ramadan so they were short staffed from the looks of things. We were seated early, before the rush, and got our dinner order in before our large groups. However, from the moment we took our seats the “Captain” was irritated, impatient, not focused on us and highly agitated with “his” staff. We prepared ourselves to be patient as we are a group of seasoned travelers. We had also chosen this restaurant based on its reputation and good food. Suffice it to say: some of us got what we ordered at all different intervals while others had a side dish and no main course or the main course went completely missing. On behalf of the group as I was at the end of the table - I asked for the missing items 3 different times and we were told by the waiter the captain would come to the table. After we all had finished the meals we had (and shared with those that didn’t) he finally showed up only to tell us we never ordered the missing meals. Not true. We had even split the order into two sides of the table on two different checks to make it easier for them. If he had ever showed the least bit of consideration or explained that they were apparently understaffed or treated us like customers that might actually return to his establishment and not tourists - the service would have still been I’m adequate but his attitude and demeanor turned an inconvenience into a totally unpleasant encounter. Still we all made the best of it and remained patient. This was greatly achieved by the one waiter who came with our plates and actually got us napkins, salt, and tried to get the Captain. While we waited for our food we had all figured out what our meals would costs, so we started to collect it for our bill. That’s when the Captain showed up not once but three times within minutes to try to take our money before we were ready a nod start counting it himself! The man was completely insufferable.

Fatal lunch. The service incredibly slow. As a turtle. There were 6 waiters and very few people for the time and season (after easter) and no way to get served. Not even the glasses of water or metal cutlery(plastic one is used). They were all going around the place to hide that they were working. They were walking around from top to bottom without doing anything and when you called them insistently and they could no longer ignore your presence, they would come closer and point out whatever they wanted. After 2 hours to eat 5 small dishes they have taken the bill and before saying anything they have warned us that the "tip" was not included, how strange in this country right?. Even so we left him a few pounds as a tip (without deserving anything) and one of the waiters literally told us: "that you have left is nothing". Decent food but not for €64 (4 people), as if these were European prices. The site is not recommended. We will never go back or recommend it. See you never Felfela.

I dined here alone (single female) and felt like it was a real challenge to get the waiters' attention at all which was strange since they were quite attentive to other diners. There were mostly foreigners here with just a few locals. It would be a nice place to come for a dinner with a group. The food is the normal selection of Egyptian dishes and is a bit overpriced for what it is- but you're paying for the atmosphere and the service.

We were at that place with a party of three and were asked to change our table three times! This is a tourist trap of the worst kind. Fast Food-kind of quality and extremely over-priced with a service that would care less. I strongly recommend to avoid this place.

Dining at Felfela in Cairo was a culinary adventure that celebrated authentic Egyptian cuisine and the warmth of local hospitality. The restaurant’s location in the heart of Cairo’s bustling streets added to its charm. The menu was a tribute to Egyptian flavors, with an array of mezzes, grilled dishes, and traditional desserts. The falafel and koshari were particular highlights of my meal. The bustling atmosphere and live music performances created a lively and festive dining experience. The staff’s friendliness and their recommendations made the visit even more enjoyable. Felfela is not just a restaurant; it’s a cultural and culinary journey through the heart of Cairo, and it’s a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Egypt.

This used to be our go-to place when we entertained guests, particularly foreigners. The food quality was poor, the portions quite small and prices way high for the food and service offered. A true disappointment. I would not venture to ever go there again.
