I've bought ice-cream at Bakdash on a few occasions and it's always been so crammed with eager customers that it's been a struggle to get served. Needless to say it's great ice cream - worth the struggle. . .

You cannot miss it, it is located at the heart of Damascus city, inside Hamediyah souq, you can call it the oriental Ice Cream house, so delicious.

Bakdash does not serve meals only dessert: pudding and ice cream. I was there in 2009 but that was not an option below. The place is always packed so you must chare a table with others. This, to me, is no hardship because I always like to rub elbows with locals. Sadly, I am unsure of its statuse now due... More

When you visit Al-Hamidiyah Souq in the Syrian capital Damascus you must try (even it's winter) the delicious original ice cream of Bakdash, the shop is 130 years old and it's still offer the original traditional Syrian ice cream for his customers who are coming from all around the world to taste his famous ice cream (in Syria they call... It shouldnt be put as 2nd on the Restaurant list as they only sell ice cream so it's misleading. There is space to sit down but it gets very crowded in the Summer especially with Tourists because it has a reputation for good ice cream.

It's probably the most visited small shop in the Souk. With crowds standing by the open show window, the staff at Bakdash know how to put on a show. But this is their daily routine in making kneaded ice cream. Covered with pistachio crumbs, it's as if you're eating vanilla ice cream with strips or strings of cheese inside. This... More
