Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The food was not bad, however the staff was horrible. They brought something different than we ordered and when we tried to confront the waiter he acted rude.

The only good thing about this restaurant was a roof terrace and a view on the street. Everything else was bad. Most of the food we ordered was mediocre at best, but one dish came... partly frozen. They didn't fry it long enough, but even...if they did - really, frozen food in the rather expensive restaurant? Can't they afford to make everything fresh? If you decide to go there anyway, better check the receipt closely. Not only they tried to charge us for the dish we returned (because it was frozen, we didn't want any replacement for that), but also they added two bottles of water we didn't order (they put these bottles on our table, we didn't open them). In general: the worst restaurant experience we had in entire Jordan.More

We ordered a meal here and the meat we received was so old that it had gone off. When we complained we were told it was just the spices my wife wisely did not eat any, I tied to eat a couple of pieces and...could not eat it. We were charged full price which was very expensive and I was sick latter in the evening.More

You will be overcharged, items will be added to your bill, and the tout at the door is an outright thief. The food is average at best and incredibly expensive. Do yourself a favour and go to any other restaurant in the area the food...will be better at half the cost.More

We ordered a pineapple juice, a salad and a pizza. The waiter didn't seem very nice. After 20-30 minutes, he came and asked if we had food. Obviously, they have forgotten us. Finally 2 pizzas arrived but we have only ordered one and a salad....No excuses... The bill was a big joke too. They added 2 bottles of water and they asked us to pay for the pizza (more expensive of course) instead of the salad. Food was ok but rather expensiveMore

I asked for a day-off in order to work from a relatively relaxing cafe' at the city center. I planned to go to Jafra, then I found out that Afra could be a nice place where I can be productive to the fullest. Regrettably, my...expectations ruined into an awful experience where the staff was initially so welcoming till the moment I requested to change the order as it was not clarified in the menu that the Angus burger would be made with ketchup or BBQ sauce (I can not make it with such ingredients). Apparently, the waiter seemed to be happy to change it, then I found out that he came back with a cold burger and colder fires. Moreover, the bread was not fresh. I did not want to get a refund or so that is why I asked for the receipt before providing the waiter with my feedback and I did pay. The guy was indifferent offering to change it and it was my choice not to. For my surprise, after he was mumbling to his colleague for what I advised him, the latter came asking me if I had finished so he wanted to take the plate! I was shocked that he did not even ask for the feedback as my plate was exactly as it was served, I could manage to have only two bites and two pieces of fries. After that, the staff was gazing at me waiting for me to leave; since I paid the bill already! I was planning to stay there until 5:00 p.m. to deliver what I was supposed to deliver, I left at 2:45 and my day was completely bad. Again; for my amazement, I wanted to give a feedback to the administrative unit for what happened to eventually find out that the guy, who asked me if I had finished telling me with his eyes to leave, was the manager! He said that the owner is abroad!!!More

Just stopped in here for a coffee. Not the most friendly of service, but nice enough atmosphere, great little seating balcony areas overlooking bustling downtown streets, and nice drinks.

Went in on a whim because someone was advertising on the street. My husband ordered the meshawi mix for 6 jod. Normally a mix means you get a large portion. In this case it was a single skewer with 3 blocks of chicken, a second...skewer with 3 drags of lamb, and 1 beef kebab piece. It didn't taste bad but anywhere else that quantity would've qualified as a taster. Would not recommend, just go across the street and you'll find fantastic food for a reasonable price. In hindsight the fact that it was empty except for a lone shiisha smoker should've been the tip off.More

Afra is not a bad place at all, its located in old part of Amman, close to Arab bank. Sitting on a n open terrace, sipping lemon and mint tea, looking at the starry sky, listening to some oriental music, engage in interesting friendly talks...with friends from other parts of the world, was a relaxing experience after a busy working day. Usually, when I am in Amman (and it was my 5th visit), I prefer to visit the places already visited, tested, but this time we wanted to try something new.More

We went to Afra Café to just have a drink after dinner and enjoy the music. When we got there, we were told the entrance would be free. It wasn't as they forced to buy water bottles for everyone on the table. The music was...good but way too loud and we couldn't understand any we were saying even if we were sitting next to each other. Everyone ordered a drink and we waited half an hour for an ice tea, a cafe and a pina colada. The other half of the order was missing and it was only after we asked them three times to bring the rest that it arrived. We were pissed so we decided to go only to realise we had a bill of 20 JOD for a cafe, an ice tea, a juice and water. We had eaten in a restaurant for the same price just before. I really really don't recommend going to this place.More

Visited this place last night and cannot recommend it enough. It's a terrace and rooftop restaurant - as a result I was reluctant at first, from the outside it doesn't appear particularly welcoming. However I was wrong to be reluctant. It's a truly friendly place,...great service, excellent food, and a great decor and views. The level of attention we got was exceptional, despite being the only tourists we could see there. The boss even gave us sweet tea and dessert on the house at the end of our meal... a great touch and one of the things that has made sure we will return before the end of our trip. Go there!More
