Overpriced soup (35 shekels, about $10, for a bowl with 2 slices of brown bread with a herb butter). The soup was decent but not even close to be worth that price. You’re paying for the cool hipster interior design, music and attitude of the...attractive young worker. She ignored me when I walked in and even when I stood in front of her by the till; apparently her friends at the table are more important. When I asked what was in the sweet potato soup besides sweet potato, she blankly looked at me and said, “I have no idea.” Seriously?! She delivered the brown bread and butter by practically slapping the plate down on the table. Very glad to NOT leave a tip here and having the satisfaction to tell her why.More

Our first trip to Jerusalem and like many others we were looking for a healthy yet yummy dinner venue. We found a real gem! The hostess with the mostest. The lady was absolutely lovely. Offered us the tasters of all the soups as we were...not sure what we wanted to eat. The chef made a delicious pasta for our 4 yo. We ended up ordering for a stuffed zucchini which was absolutely delicious!! A must have. They offered us freshly prepared dolmas by the chef’s mother. The best iv ever eaten. The meal was a winner and so was the place. Loved the concept of the joint which on recycle, reuse while serving healthy, freshly prepared comfort food. Thank you so much! We are sure to recommend to everyone visiting Jerusalem. 🙏More

Welcoming, warm and friendly service; all staff had a great sense of humour, too! To help us decide which of their soup options we wanted we were offered samplers, all of which were yummy. The portions were generous and it was served piping hot. All...was so good we decided to return 3 days later.More

Simple, tasty soups, lovely salads, like going back in time to the 60s. Love this place. Unpretentious and friendly. Always saw lone diners here who felt comfortable as I saw the same person several times on our trips here.

Decided to try Hamarakiya as it’s listed in lonely planet but should’ve known better, as there tips aren’t the best more often then not these days. We ordered 3 dishes: shakshuka (praised in the guide), eggplant and focaccia. Shakshuka was bland and sour, literally canned...tomatoes with egg. No seasoning whatsoever. The focaccia was not a focaccia but just a white bread with some mozzarella on it. Bland and tasteless. The eggplant saved the night but was also mediocre at best. Overall we expected way more but left disappointed.More

We went with the lentil soup (עדשים כתומים), and found it to be very delicious and filling. The pesto that comes with the bread is great -- very herby, not the usual stuff. Fun place, very quirky and charming decor.

Here is my experience, as is: Waiter brings soup holding bowl while fingers inside the soup. The stuffed vegetables were un-eatable, taste like paper. Between what you order and what you get, expect some surprises. All bowls and plates are broken, probably best place for...germs. What can I say, there are so many wonderful places to eat in Jerusalem, just make sure to avoid this place.More
