This restaurant was a huge disappointment. It has pretensions of excellence that are sadly missing in virtually every way. Most importantly, the food was mediocre at best. It was a special evening, as at the age of 71 we were celebrating our first wedding anniversary....We had the nine course tasting menu, of which only the appetizers were even mildly interesting. The cauliflower and eggplant dishes could have been served at least as well in a bet cafe on Emek Refaim. The main courses were mostly meat stews, including a brisket any housewife would make on shabbat, a lamb that was almost entirely gristle, bone and fat and a supposedly Lebanese chicken that had virtual no spices or herbs, which would embarrass the great Lebanese cooks I've known. Even the desserts disappointed - a coconut ice cream that had no taste of coconut. The sliced rib eye was very well prepared. OK they can grill. Surprisingly, the service was also greatly disappointing. Most of the waiters literally threw down the plates saying things like 'slow cooked beef.' and walked away. Often I had to call them back because I didn't hear or understand their three word description. No explanation, no encouragement. We almost never care about prices, but for the quality of the food, this dinner, at over $300 was a huge overpromise.More
