Charming place with small outdoor patio dining area. Nicely decorated. We were given an eggplant purée, two different types of delicious bread, and a decorated bonsai tree with stuffed olives on the branches and a few different items on the bottom. We had leek soup with pumpkin biscotti and a beet salad for appetizers. Everything so far was delicious and... More

As a guest of the King David we ate at 1868 several times. The service was impeccable and the food deliciously prepared.

i was there on a business lunch. surprisingly it wasn't as expensive as i had anticipated plus the food and the service were excellent. I am not kosher and don't always fancy kosher restaurants, but this one i would go to regardless. it was about 600 shekels for 4 people. just to compare we went to another restaurant in the... More

Loved the food. It is different. Not your usual steak and chicken. The flavoring and plating is Tasty and beautiful. Taste buds were alive with flavor. Bit expensive but worth every penny. The dessert was unique and refreshing.

My wife and I had a good dinner at the (kosher) 1868, which is located right off King David Street in the city centre, close to the Mamilla mall. Food, wine and service were good. The Amuse Bouches were served on a Bonsai olive tree, which was entertaining, but did not necessarily help the taste...Food and wine were expensive, even... More

The first time you enter the restaurant you get a feeling like entering a very modern yet very inviting Bistro. You can see many of their top quality ingredients being used in their food at a showcase as you enter. The atmosphere in the restaunt is also very inviting. Once seated each table receives a large plate of assorted breads,... More

Friends recommended this restaurant and said it was "interesting ". Next time I will ask for further information I found the service to be very slow, the portions small, the steak tough, and the prices high. The food was interesting. Meaning unusual flavorings. That is neither good nor bad. Ambience consists of dim lights and a twig with 3 olives... More

I was visiting 1868 with my customers, we all enjoyed the food and especially the serving, the dishes are very special and tasty. At the beginning you will receive small tree with olives and almonds, and a few snacks. I ordered pumpkin soup that was served in a special way... and of course the desserts was so special...don't miss 1868.

Not as pricey as I thought it would be - $280 for four people including wine, entrees, dessert, and stuff. Best make a reservation as the place seems quite popular. Located right across the street from David Citadel Hotel. Food is good, and portion sizes are adequate for a reasonable person (= little too small for us Nordic-types). Nice atmosphere... More

We had a perfect anniversary lunch at '1868'. The restaurant is located in what is now the last remaining building of an old Jerusalem neighborhood. A cozy, old Arabic style house with lots of natural light. We had the hamburger, salmon, chicken wings, salad and barely had enough room for dessert. The food was very tasty! The service was excellent,... More
