This is the locals favorite place for baklava. One of my husbands colleague in Istanbul recommended us . This is hands down the most fresh, melt in your mouth baklava. Try the baklava with their Kaymak Yum! The only regret is we should have bought more boxes to bring back home.

The food was really GGood there was a bit of a language barrier though as we only speak English but ended up with a great meal and some not so great coffees but all in all good experience.

Our pilgrimage to this dessert spot is a must on each trip to Istanbul. The baklava is crispy and moist in the right proportion. Maybe a bit too sweet for some but if you are a baklava fan then you must drop by.

We didn't know about this place until our Uber driver told us. He said if we wanted the best Baklava according to the locals - then this is where we should go. I have to say this was definitely the freshest Baklava i have ever eaten - it was still warm and i could taste the richness of the pistachios... More

My fried took me here while on a trip to Istanbul, i think there were only about 5 flavors of Baklava but they were well worth the trip. Absolutely delightful, I just had to take some home.

Top class baklava, in my view comparable only with Imam Çağdaş in Gaziantep. There are several other baklavaci in Istanbul using the name of Gülloğlu but this is the one and only real Gülloğlu. All the others are fakes with quality nowhere near Karaköy Gülloğlu. It is huge place and always crowded, so take-away seems better option then trying to... More

Karakoy might not be famous for tourists but it is for locals recently. Gulluoglu by far has the best Iskander kebap in Istanbul. Simple place with very good service. Waiters dont speak English but the head waiter does. Appetizers and salads are lovely as well.

Staying in Karakoy

Neighbourhood Profile
Karakoy
Sitting pretty with an age-old air about it, Karakoy is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus at the mouth of the Golden Horn. Perhaps the city’s most historically significant area, it’s currently one of the most happening parts of town as well. Here street vendors and alfresco fish restaurants line the banks of the Horn where the views of major attractions across the water rival Karakoy’s own key attractions, such as the iconic 14th century Galata Tower and the Museum of Modern Art. A major hub for local and international waterborne traffic, Istanbul’s commercial and maritime heritage remains as relevant and evident as ever in Karakoy. Commuter ferries mingle with luxury cruise liners at its busy port, ensuring a continuously cosmopolitan flow of people..
