I booked a table for my partner's birthday and asked for a rose and a position next the the windows. When we arrived there were rose petals on the table and the position was the best one in the room with a breathtaking view on the Bosporus. Food is lovely with a great selection of Turkish or international cuisine. The... More

We had a good experience. Tried the mixed tasti kebab for two and was tasty and a good portion. The guy who got us in was very friendly and did a good deal for us including some complementary dessert and tea .

I stop here by chance, being hungry and tired, without reading any reviews. I have ordered soup of the day and safran meat... hard to say what was better. The food was delicious and tasty and the service was great. I'll definitely return.

Best portion size and flavour, good amount of chicken (and only 7 Turkish Lira). Ice cream man adjacent gave our two year old a free and entertaining ice cream. Missing the 5th star as they don't have chilli sauce! Would visit again for sure. (Beer served in a cup as there is a mosque adjacent).

Sensational food and even better service. We stopped in for a short lunch and ended up leaving 2 hours later. Unfortunately my girlfriend didn't finish her meal and she ended up in the kitchen! Just kidding this was just the cheeky inside jokes with the waiters. We are very picky with our meals and this restaurant exceed our expectations. It's... More

We came to Safran for lunch on our first day in Istanbul. We ate the LeSafron special on recommendation from our waiter and it was amazing. Too much food! Be careful when you come because if you don't finish your food you will need to wash the plates. Excellent service and jokes :) offered lots of Turkish tea to finish... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
