One street removed the bustle of taksim shopping, this cafe offered a quiet break with local beer and bruschetta. Outdoor seating was shaded and quaint. Attentive service.

We stopped by Urban Cafe for some beer. I was kind of disappointed because they didn't have Leffe. Not a bad place to stop by but not special either.

So I recently found myself traveling in Istanbul for work with a bunch of people who didn't much care for Turkish food, which was too bad for me because I love it. But we ended up at this place one night and it was FANTASTIC. I have to say everything I put in my mouth was fabulous and I would... More

Located at a side road of Istiklal street, a small place which serves coffes, drinks and several choices for meals. It has actually 3 levels with few stairs between them. Nice decorated, soft music, tasty foods and friendly staff.

Arrived for dinner with a friend and sat at a vacant table. The waiter promptly brought three menus; two for drinks and one for food. We placed our order and chatted. We had to chat louder and louder to make ourselves heard above a gentleman talking in German very loudly at a nearby table and engaging with guests at tables... More

It's hard to find independent beers in Istanbul but urban had a decent amber ale which was very nice. The bar itself is modern with a good vibe and does a good selection of bar meals.

This little European-like cafe is hiding in a little alley just behind Istiklal street and it is a very comfy and cosy place to have a hot coffe, some drinks or even a nice meal! We discovered it on trip advisor and we are returning the great recommendation with our review! We were a group of 6 travelers who just... More

Not far off Istiklal and close to Galatasaray Lycee. Graffiti and a vine canopy makes this space feel quite cool and intimate. Dim light with scattered chairs and low tables add to the feel of this place. Lots of hipsters and students make up the crowd. A good place to go before or after eating.

At the end of a little street with a green vegetal roof, this a good place to take a drink in a good vibes spot.

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
