I went to enjoy my lunch with DE enigma2007 and his idea to meet in Çiya...Sofrası was superb. I love the vegetarian dolma and mezzeler. Fantasic!!More

If you want to taste the traditional Turkish cusine this is the best place you must visit. It is situated in the Asian side of Istanbul. You can take a twenty minute boat trip to get to Kadikoey.

The food is completely traditional and delicately clean. The staff can speak English and are very knowledgable. You cant find such a meticulously designed salad bar anywhere in İstanbul, trust me. There are courses, starters, appetizers, desserts and even salads pertaining to every kind of...Turkish cuisine (Aegean, eastern, etc.) It is less crowded during the week days after 7:00 p.m. You must pay a visit if you are keen on tasting every common type of Turkish delicacy.More

After a week in Istanbul i can say that the dishes i find in Ciya are impossible to find in other places. For a dinner or a lunch forget kebabs and pitas, and try something different having a trip in autenthic turkish cousine. Menu change...every day. A lot of care in details. I have been told repeatedly that if one has visiting guests to Istanbul, in particular Kadiköy in the Asian side, this is the place to go. The name is actually Çiya Sofrasi (not Ciya). This time was the second time to this restaurant, famous for...the Anatolian food. Most people opted for the hot table (pre-prepared food in hot trays) rather than ordering from the menu. As usual we ordered too much food, including the Wedding Rice Dome (Perde Pilaf), various stuffed eggplant, grape vine leaves etc. Like the first time, I did not find the dishes better than many other restaurants in Istanbul. Staff is very nice and friendly. But the food...the food is real turkish food. The location is very original, in a nice market where you can feel you are in Istanbul. We enjoy the food and the atmosphere. And yes is a top restaurant.
