Everything was great from the food, to the music and the service!! You got to try the topik, I had a revelation on this one. It was recommended by a turkish friend and we were not disappointed at all, go there without any hesitation. We even got the service in French which was well appreciated.

Marvellous food, friendly staff. My 'must to go ' in Istanbul. Out of the crowd, but still just 2 minutes away from Istiklal Street. Prices quite plausible. Strongly recommended

Niyaz, the owner of Kucuk Meyhane, and her staff proved the perfect hosts for a group dinner of 20 family and friends in Istanbul on June 13. We contacted her by email to make arrangements for the dinner and were thrilled when we visited the restaurant several days before our group arrived. Personable, friendly and warm, Niyaz set the tone... More

The food was good but they add in a 10% service fee which is not normal in Turkey. And then they short changed me on the bill. It was not an accident. It never is here. It ruined what could have been a good meal experience.

I have been there twice and delighted with the overall experience. It's incredibly cosy and warm. Owners make you feel really welcome. It's a place where you feel spoiled and pampered and, as the meal draws to an end, replete and glowing. There is a light touch with the service, attentive but not pressing. This is a Turkish home style... More

Great little place. We were there 3 nights ago, and had a selection of local appetiser dishes, 90% of which were good. The service was fine and unpretentious. If you like to try local foods when on holiday, then I would recommend this place, but if you don't or you are in a hurry then there is always McDonalds or... More

My friends & I went to this lovely restaurant twice during our trip. Once was on a weekday & 2nd time on a Saturday night which they had live music as well. We tried several yummy appetizers, some recommended by the owner/chef which were mostly black sea region specialties. We had grilled hamsi (similar to anchovy) & sea bass as... More

Place smells like a toilet. Food was mediocre at best and owner was rude. I was the only person in the restaurant at 8pm (based on these reviews) and even then owner couldn't manage decent service. I'm from New York City and have traveled all over the world and this was one of the worst. Don't go.

We were extremely surprised by your review as we have never had such a bad one before. This makes us think that there must have been a mix-up of venues. We would like to host you one more time to make up for the mis understanding. More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
