The waiters were really pushy and they were smoking next to us while we were eating. They brought us a big bottle of water although we hadn't ordered that, of course we had to pay it in the end. I ordered lamb chops, one of those was a bit raw. Overall the food was below average.

Nice little restaurant in the heart of Nevizade street near Istiklal street. Service really attentive, good food for very fair price. You can seat at the terrasse and feel modern Istanbul atmosphere

Noisy restaurant. Awful service. And the food doesn't worth the visit. They surcharge stupidly the tourists. So go eat somewhere eles.

They have lots of pictures of their food but what you see is not what you get. We ordered shish kebab that showed two skewers but the dish delivered came with one. Not that good either.

We had a great dining experience at this restaurant. A carefully supervised restaurant by the owner (many situations are resolved by the owner - he and she - who is actively involved so that customers feel good), extremely crowded but it offers a pleasant atmosphere and delicious food. The restaurant also offers a wide variety of wines.

Boncuk is one of many small restaurants crowding both sides of the narrow Nevizade alley. We arrived on the day of the Dortmund/Galatasaray soccer match (which ended badly for Galatasaray) but the street was packed with Galata fans in full colors and singing and chanting from one restaurant to be answered by more of the same from others. We sat... More

Our Raki wad served with a variety of delicios small plates of dips, fish and cheeses. This was followed by succulent lamb skewers and whole grilled fish.

Had several meals in this restaurant over the course of my 10 day stay in Istanbul and I have to say this place had the freshest seafood out of all the places we've tried. Try the calamari here - they are out of this world!

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
