Great place to have good food with the family. Their service is really fast compared with other dining restaurants and the food was tasty. Quantity wise worth the money. Can really recommend this restaurant.

We visited this place as we were craving for some Chinese food. The food was okay , we ordered some chicken items and cuttle fish , both the items were chewy and hard to bite. Taste of the items are okay. The caramel custard was yummy.

The delivery was on time by Shandong and the food was delivered warm. The food was tasty. The dumplings and sweet corn chicken soup was good. The spicy noodles and chilli pork was excellent. The cheese cake and Caramel was very good.

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with Shang Dong Chinese Restaurant, Rajagiriya, which has left me questioning whether I would continue ordering from them as a regular customer. I placed an order via Uber Eats but had to cancel shortly after because I no longer required it. To be considerate, I called the restaurant to check if the kitchen had started preparing the food and was informed that they hadn’t.
I kindly requested them to cancel the order on their end, as canceling on Uber Eats would still charge my card the full amount. However, Louis, the person I spoke to at Shang Dong, responded rudely to my request, spoke to me in a disrespectful manner, and then had the audacity to hang up on me.
As someone who orders from this restaurant about 3-4 times a week, I am appalled by the unprofessional and dismissive attitude I experienced. It is disheartening that such a restaurant would hire staff who lack basic customer service skills to engage with their patrons. I hope the management takes this matter seriously and ensures that their staff treats customers with the respect they deserve.
Until then, I would hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone. Customer service matters, and my experience with Shang Dong has left me deeply disappointed.

Ordered a large hot and sour chicken soup as a take away. As it was not on the menu we asked specifically whether it was available and not to mix it up with hot tom yum chicken soup. The person who took the order re assured me that they do have it on the menu and not to be concerned. However when I went to pick it up what I got was the hog tom yum chicken soup. Totally disagree with the outcome as went into detail to explain the order. Hope Denzil K will read this feedback and rectify these errors as I am a fan of this restaurant

Sometimes it's mind blowing how many bad restaurants get 5 star reviews.
Anyways here's my experience; of possibly the worst Chinese i've had in Sri Lanka.
Firstly, throwing in some sliced carrots, shallots and chilli paste into a wok stir fry does not make Chinese food.
What's worse is printing a photo of Schezuan Spicy Chicken numbering it with the dish on the menu calling it 'Deep Fried Spicy Chicken' and then sending something completely different to the table.
On top of that, some guy who manages the place comes to your table to tell you the chillies are a garnish... The one in the picture?... NO. That is actually a popular Chinese dish, something he probably never had. Spicy Schezuan Chicken. Look it up!
Don't go around using stock images of dishes for the menu if your kitchen doesn't know how to cook it. People order dishes they are familiar with, by looking at the photo.
Let's not even get started on the other sad dishes that arrived.
Butter Fried Cuttlefish, like chewing on hard rubber.
Will never dine here again and will definitely tell everyone I know not to go there either.
I'm surprised this place hasn't closed down already with the horrible food that's served.

Their soup is like dishwater with some bits of egg, not sure where the corn and chicken went to. Their pork set meal has 3 tiny pieces of pork, a teaspoon of mixed veg and a drop of chillI paste and ton of rice despite me calling them. Their chicken meal has a hard piece of chicken, their beef kankun is more kankun than beef, their sweet and sour fish is more balls of batter than actual fish.. and they put MSG.. awful. DO NOT RECOMMEND

After a long time I bought lunch, take away, set menu fried rice (bone less chicken), on this May 19th, from Shandong - the Chinese kitchen, Rajagiriya. The pack was LKR 1100.
I haven't had Chinese for a long time and I regret to say that traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry is very much tastier than Chinese (food), I mean what we call Chinese (food) here in Sri Lanka. Because I've heard the actual food in China are somewhat different from what Sri Lankans have come to generally call Chinese (food).
Anyway this is not a complaint of Shandong - the Chinese kitchen, or their food, just a general statement about what we call Chinese food here in Sri Lanka.
Set Menu pack I bought from Shandong contained: Basmathi Rice; Chicken (Boneless); Chopsuey; Chilli Paste; and a piece of Fried Egg.
For the first time I thought Samba or Keeri Samba is better than Basmathi Rice for some reason. I think I have finally gotten grounded in Sri Lankan food after all these years. Well Sri Lankanized. Age I think is catching up to me. Because I'm usually a person that value and seek non-traditional, non-Sri Lankan stuff whether its food or anything else.
I also wondered if the piece of fried egg I sort of accidentally found buried under the rice, was a half an egg? Seriously, it was a small piece.
After having gotten used to eating truck loads of what we Sri Lankans call 'Katta Sambol', I found the amount of Chili Paste too was too little, especially given that two of us shared this pack. Me and my father.
So I'd say that the portion size is good - both of the amount of rice and the boneless chicken prep. But then again, both me and my father, prefer to eat small quantities of rice. However another item, in addition to the Chopuey, I thougt would have been good to have, and added value. Because the amount of accompaniments (mainly the Chicken and Chopsuey) I thought was too little compared to the amount of rice in the pack.
Like I said I didn't find the Chopsuey impressive either - compared to Sri Lankan rice and curry. I thought it was bland and uninteresting. I guess I missed the lack of spices and spiciness.
The Chinese options that are available in general are no match for the variety of rice and curries we eat even in a regular household. I mean can the Chopsuey beat our good old dhal curry - "Hamadama kana parippu"?
I've been finally become a fully fledged 'curry-person', that's what I realised after having this lunch. Totally Sri Lankanized. Not a fault at all of Shandong!
My father on the other hand thought the boneless chicken preperation was tasty. So I give full credit to Shandong for it. He, my father, is quite sensitive when it comes to subtle differences in tastes, even more than me. So I'm sure his comment was of value.
Finally, I prefer and recommend Shandong, for anyone who wants Chinese, to good old Chinese Dragon, that is just a couple of blocks away from Shandong in Rajagiriya, down Sri Jayawardenapura Mawatha, Kotte.
The Chinese Dragon that has now come under an Indian Management pulled an unwarranted dirty trick on me when I ordered two lunch packs from my office, to be delivered to my old parents who were alone at home, few years back. A totally classless act. A truly !ncredible one that left me questioning their credibility as a business establishment.
So, if anyone wants Chinese (food) in Kotte, Shandong - the Chinese kitchen, is THE place to go!

A must-go place on a Chinese food crave day.
Fairly large menu of promising dishes.
Excellent preparations, even the regular Mixed fried Rice & HBC are a memorable experience.
