We visited this restaurant when we first arrived in Vientiane and then as our last meal 1.5 weeks later before flying out. It was fantastic then and exceptional the second time around. The green curry noodles are amazing, the lemon fish is mind blowing and the tomato jeow with sticky rice is fantastic. The woman who runs the restaurant is... More

Sat outside for a quick drink and to people watch. Very quiet and pleasant surroundings. Very extensive menu with lots of lao specialities. Food looked good but not cheap by Lao standards.

Having read loads of fantastic reviews on a number of different places we made our way here with high hopes. Unfortunately we felt hugely let down. The service was pretty awful. My partner asked for a banana and pineapple fruit shake (mixing two fruits that are available on the menu) and initially she refused to make it because she said... More

What a friendly hostess for this in prepossessing restaurant. Let her recommend to you. We had fish with lemon but what a broth made with limes garlic coriander and fish sauce. The red curry has some zing too.

I've eaten here four evenings in a row during my stay in Vientiane. I started with fried spring rolls followed by ginger pork with steamed rice. The next evening I had to order the spring rolls again - very delicious - and got some chicken as a main dish. Normally the restaurant stays closed on Sundays but because many people... More

My wife and I live in Vientiane and this has become our go-to spot for a pleasant and tasty meal. It's centrally located in the heart of town yet on a side street so it's fairly quiet and away from traffic. This place has a huge menu covering all the basic Lao and Thai favorites. I suppose I should also... More

The owner of this place speaks good English and she welcomed us in straight away with a smile. A previous reviewer complained of wet dog smell, this would be became there are two dogs in the restaurant which are the owners pets and as we love dogs, she introduced them to us. The restaurant is clean and comfortable and the... More

We were enticed in by the very friendly owner. She spoke to us with a big smile and explained the different dishes. We'd visited Lao before, and really wanted Larb. We were surprised to be offered every kind imaginable: mushroom larb, cauliflower and brocolli larb, bamboo shoot larb, as well as the usuals like fish, chicken, pork. The mushroom one... More

It can be surprisingly hard to find great Lao food in the tourist area of Vientiane. This restaurant is the one we keep coming back to. Lovely, friendly owner who really cares about her food - she does everything, cooking and serving, so don't expect the food to be too fast but it is definitely worth the wait. She makes... More

I have been visiting Ban Vilaylac regularly in past two years and I've never been disappointed. Food is delicious! My favourite dishes are spicy eggplant salad with brown sticky rice, mushroom tom yam soup, fried yellow noodles with veggies and tofu, and steamed tilapia fish with veggies. Just forget the extensive menu and ask the owner (who is always there... More
