Right on the river, a great welcome, lovely food, on each occasion we visited. Good value and worth a visit. We were staying at the Morin so it was a 5 minute walk.

My friends and I came to Hanoi in the afternoon so we decided to stroll around its Ancient street. We tasted some Hanoi street foods that our guide introduced, they are fine, quite delicious. Then, we drunk some cool beers in Ta Hien street and made friends with other tourists who were drinking too. Our conversation was so funny .... More

If this is the Old Quarter, it's best in the morning and early afternoon before it gets clogged by tacky tourists, swarms of motorbikes and the like. It's worth a quick visit but has been ruined by mass, low-end tourism.

This is the old French quarter of Hanoi. Charming, nostalgic, and just plain fun. Great shops and restaurants. Don't miss it.

If you have to stay anywhere in Hanoi, it should be the old quarter. Its where all the action happens and all the great shopping is. Street hawkers are going to hassle you to death, but its all done with good humour and a smile. Be sure to stop at New Day for a feed for lunch or dinner and... More

What I liked about the ancient town or OLD QUARTERS is the way the streets are named. If translated, they relate to words like 'shoe street', 'cloth street', 'toys street' etc. which indicates the products sold (or used to be sold) on each street in the old days.

We stayed here for 3 nights, I couldn't recommend it enough. Its a great part of Hanoi. It has lots of interesting things to see and do after every turn. The markets are within close walking distance as is the water puppets theatre. See it buy paying one of the push bike men, for a few pounds you get to... More

We walked for miles looking at the ancient town and got very hot and very sticky. It seemed to be miles of shops full of cheap tat that was not appealing to European tastes, and even the hawkers knew that we were not potential buyers. But, we decided to jump on a green tourist golf cart one hour tour. This... More
