We were staying at W and tried Name for dinner when we were lazy to go out after the rain. Few comments: Do not be mislead by pictures menu. In reality all dishes are much nicer than on that pictures:) I tried sashimi which was super high level and amazing by all means. The crispy crab rolls ams shrip tempura... More

whenever I am in Koh Samui I dine at least one time here with pre-drinks to watch the sunset. Excellent food, attentive service and yummy hand-crafted sushi sometimes made by SK himself.

A nice get away within the W Retreat that offers a Japanese Fusion menu on the pricey side of life. The variety is ok, and the food in general melts in your mouth, but somehow lacks that wow factor that matches the price tag of the restaurant. If you after an intimate moment with that someone special, it is a... More

Namu was a big surprise for me and my friends and family. Selection and quality of food there is great. Service was a positive surprise as well, a lot of staff for a small restaurant. Wine list also impressive compared to other restaurants. Prices are high, but it is really worth every dollar spent. Satisfaction is guaranteed. We were 2... More

Craving Japanese we headed to the hedonistic W hotel (not my scene) and were very efficiently whisked away in a buggy to the gorgeous Namu restaurant - it's a bit Nobu-ish with sexy black cod; highest quality sashimi and groovy staff. Meal was faultless. Lots of taste sensations, a buzzy atmosphere. We were tempted to go back the next night... More

I have just returned from an amazing sushi meal at Namu. Hands down the best sushi I have eaten and I have eaten at the best sushi restaurants in London (yes I know the sushi world exists beyond the boroughs of London but that's all I have. For comparison). The softshell crab and spicy tuna were highlights of the sushi... More

Namu serves some of the most refined and fresh selections of sashimi and sushi in all of Koh Samui. The steak and other meat dishes, while brilliantly prepared with excellently sourced ingredients, are on par with restaurants at the same level. Side note: Customize! It's W-Hotel, so whatever you want is what you will have -- you may order some... More

Description
Adding cutting-edge design, a global lifestyle with modern luxuries to Thailand, the hip W Retreat Koh Samui also offers the ultimate culinary indulgence with its signature restaurant, Namu.

Taking its name from the Korean word for wood, Namu combines the basic life elements to create a new culinary world that embodies Asia Tomorrow.

Stylish individual elements underline the minimal clean lines of the decor that sets the scene for inventive Japanese cuisine. Step through the dramatic entrance surrounded by an enchanting water feature inside, subdued lighting suffuses the dining area with a intimate vibe. A dramatic textured ceiling spirals downwards, flanked by green glass rods, representing bamboo. Diners can opt to sit outside on the beachside terrace, at one of the six tables indoors, or at the best seats in the house - along the counter of the open kitchen for a firsthand glimpse of the action.

The innovative menu at Namu offers a diversity of dining experiences, re-interpreting influences from around Asia and especially Japan, while retaining intrinsic flavor profiles. In keeping with the traditional Asian concept of dining, a shared table concept that celebrates the compatible textures and flavors is encouraged.

Cutting-edge and daring, Namu is a sensual dining experience that constantly re-invents itself, while showcasing the Asia of tomorrow.
