We just love to come here. The “Ban Chiang” is our Thai neighborhood restaurant and is located in one of these nice old bungalows in Silom (5 min walking from Surasak BTS). So perfect for a lunch with colleagues during the week, for a dinner...with the family or a get together with friends on the weekend. They have parking for 2-3 cars and a little garden where you can sit outside (smoking permitted). When you sit inside this wooden house with its nice authentic decoration you feel some Siam history. The staff is very polite, but don’t understand much English. The food is of a very good quality and you find all favorite Thai dishes on the menu. It’s not one of those fancy posh places with all that fusion food. Just real Thai, nice atmosphere and very reasonable. We love it!More

Ban Chiang Thai Restaurant We (my husband and I) visited this restaurant based on Trip Advisor reviews. We had not booked so were unable to have a table outside, as we would have preferred. Instead, we were offered a table inside which was very unique...and similar, as had been suggested in the reviews, like someone’s home. We were attended to efficiently and politely, but there didn’t see to be a personal touch as with other restaurants we had visited. Our food was quickly served, well presented and delicious. In summary, it was a good meal but not one that stuck out in my mind as outstanding.More

For us the evening was really a big deception. The service and the two waiters were very unfriendly, no smiling, not even a warm welcome. It looks like they have never learnt how to do a nice and attentive service. The food was okay, but...not better than in other Thai restaurants. We can NOT recommend this restaurant. This was really not a nice atmosphere on the terrace. Very unfriendly service!!More

We returned for yet another lovely meal. The building is a traditional thai style home turned restaurant. Service is professional yet warm and helpful. The flavors were fantastic. A wonderful meal at reasonable prices. I've been coming here since the 1990's and it never fails...to impress!More

For years we have visited Ban Chiang three, four times every year. When we found it, it was a jewel and worth visiting time after time. But slowly the food has lost it charm. Now the last time will be the last for a while....The chicken satay meat had a funny texture, like it was minced chicken and tasted a little raw. Deep fried shrimp (we ordered shrimp but received squid that we sent back to the kitchen) crust was soft, not crispy at all and was like chewing gum. We left half of both appetizers on the table. Main course, chicken in red curry was ok but could have had some sweetness in it. New was 10% service charge automatically added to the bill, which is ok but would be worth mentioning as well that all prices are subject to taxes. A little more attention to the food and service please. We will give the restaurant one more chance next time but if that fails, it is goodbye -unfortunately because place is lovely and in a peaceful location.More

Outdoor seating as well as two cosy and...nice dining rooms inside. Friendly and service-minded staff, good local menu, good winelist! Call for repeats ....More

A very interesting restaurant close to our hotel. It has a beautiful patio/terrace and a cozy interior....we ate on the patio in 34 C heat. Food and service were very good, especially the pineapple rice dish.

We found this one accidentally, actually, we were going for another restaurant just across the road but the queues were long (it's quite popular with locals) so we ended up to Ban Chiang. Located on a quiet road a stone's throw away busy and noisy...Silom road, this fancy restaurant looks a converted belle epoque mansion so you get this feeling of dining in a warm, family establishment rather than in a massive huge restaurant without any character at all. The decoration is quite interesting, mainly wood and some old chinese style pottery and wall paintings giving this exotic Asian feels and ambience. Food is delicious, we tried pretty much all the classics and were totally satisfied. Chicken satay, delicious, fish and shrimp cake (fritters) amazing, the best we tasted in Thailand, and the steamed fish with Thai herbs was absolutely delightful. Prices quite reasonable for what you're getting provided this is a venue which is a little bit more elevated compared to the average cheap traditional thai tavernMore

I have visited a lot of restaurants in BKK. This is the best of all. The food quality and the ambient were very good. I will come again.

Lovely wooden house where you can eat under a wooden portico with tropical plants. The cuisine is refined with very good ingredients. Large portion of chicken satay with 2 different dips, massaman beef tender like butter, a "light", to our taste, coconut soup.. Finally a...fried banana with ice cream (good portion) Service was fineMore

It's not my restaurant, but the restaurant is 5-10 minutes walk from BTS Surasak at 14 Soi Si Wiang, Surasak Rd., Bangrak . Look at Google Maps north from Surasak station.
