Le Pilier is easily one of the best Restaurants in Niamey and I suggest, an essential part of any visit. Arriving there is always an interesting experience. Because of the clientelle it attracts, the security is the highest of any restaurant outside the big hotels. But once you're in past them you step into a different world of relaxation and... More

It is difficult to combine the worst feautures of Africa and Italy in one place but Le Pilier manages to do just that, with a good measure of French pretentiousness. Food is awful, it takes hours and hours to come, service is appalling, the decor is crass, the bill is exorbitant for local standards and the overall treatment is as... More

The people are welcoming and the food was good. The only thing was that they take more time to fix the dish.

It is a charming restaurant, particularly if you have a chance to eat in their cavernous, cool lower level. (If the lower level is not open, ask to sit in the garden rather than in the non-descript dining room) The food is very good. They make their own fresh tagliatelle, and have a limited selection of very nice pizzas.

I was a Peace Corps volunteer back in the late '90s and we all ate once at Le Pilier, usually as a special meal because it was so fancy. I was excited to come back; I had heard it was still going strong. It's in a new building now, but still has the same lovely atmosphere and the same delicious... More

Le Pillier offers a great people-watching and dining scene. I've eaten there several times and the food is quite good, but not particularly memorable. We enjoyed the lamb tagine and the steak au poivre. The menu has limited healthy / gluten-free vegetarian options (surprising given the availability of ingredients) though there are a la carte vegetarian side dishes such as... More

It is a very neat and clean restaurant where you can go either with your family or with your friends. The fish "capitain" with white sauce is very delicious. The greek salade is made up of fresh vegetables. The owner of the restaurant is an Italian gentleman who follows the tables always.

Over a period of three weeks my colleagues and I went to Le Pilier four times, second only to Côté Jardin. Overall it's a very good restaurant, especially for Niamey, and I never once had a bad meal there. The menu is varied; it's ostensibly an Italian restaurant, but with lots of other choices, to include a North African flair... More
