We enjoyed a fantastic time at the fish market with good quality food, friendly service and a unique experience in Africa. We were met at the car park by Deon, a local, that introduced us to a small restaurant that ensured we had good food. Tips: 1. we had citronella candle with us for the flies - it worked well;... This is most certainly a must do! We ate at the fish market twice over our weekend in Maputo. Make sure you know how to pick fresh seafood. Prices are really reasonable and you will not get seafood any fresher! Service is good but food does take some time to prepare so you have to be quite patient. We ate at... More

Here you choose your food before ots cooked. Be careful, some of the sellers will try to sell you rotten fish or prawns to get rid of them. Go with someone that knows how to choose fresh seafood. After buyers your seafood they send it to one of the many restaurants that prepare it for you. If you get a... More

But your fresh fish here to be cooked next door. The fish was good and seemed fresh. Simply walking through the market and looking at the variety of seafood is fun enough.

It is a nice place, where u can buy your own seafood from the market and get it cooked by any or the baraquinhas there. The very irritating thing is in the beginning where people attack u verbally for u to chose their place. What I would suggest is to look for a white blondish lady - she is in... More

This is definitely an experience when visiting Mozambique. There are a number of tables each corresponding to the different restaurants around the fish marker. You can either bring your seafood that you buy from the market or get the staff to buy. There are numerous option such as fish, shrimp, squid and clams. You can order sides such as salad... More

As soon as my taxi pulled in to the large parking lot, I was (humorously) fought over by two girls/waitresses, who took me to the outdoor table of their restaurant. I spoke enough Portugese to order grilled fish and grilled prawns. While it did take about 50 minutes for the food to arrive, I ordered a drink while I waited... More

Highly overpriced, not pleasant, and the fish is not that good. The whole place is full of flies, and there are lots of annoying guys trying to sell you a whole bunch of stuff that no-one wants.

We had gone passing this fish market many times during daytime and had also heard they served great seafood. When the fish market is open, one can buy the seafood and then come towards the restaurant/cooking stalls section (there are many of them) and let them cook your booty for you. We went there at night. The restaurants were not... More
