I spent long time waiting for someone bring the menu, than more time for the food, and when it arrived, wasn't that good. Maybe it was an exception, I will try again.

The place could be nice as that's an open space with some trees not far from the river. Food was bad: meat overcooked, vegetables extremely oily. Staff unpolite and not speaking good french. We waited two hours for the meal. ...Wondering about hygiene conditions of the kitchen, too.

L'Escale is nothing fancy, but the food satisfies and the open-air, candle-lit atmosphere is relaxing. I always get the maboke - a rich, flavorful curried fish or chicken with veg steamed in banana leaf with a side of plantains or rice. It's a nice break from hotel food!

This restaurant is one of the more unusual places in Bangui. It is located near the river and seems quite popular with the French Embassy and those associated with the French Republic (such as French soldiers). All of these people seem to know each other - and to know the owner quite well. The seating is virtually all outdoor. The... More

I've been to L'Escale a few times and each time I'm disappointed. There are a few vegetarian items on the menu but it's been hit or miss whether they are in stock-- including some fairly basic things like egg sandwiches. Orders are often incomplete or brought out one thing long after another. For some reason, twice, I was not able... More

Well Bangui is not a cozy and touristic place but if you are looking for a restaurant, where to eat something special, you should come here! I have eaten a good antelope (watch out to find out small bullets), maboke (a traditional dish done with fish and cooked in banana leaves, I suggest the curry variety) and sometimes you can... More

I am not sure about the safety of the food but it has good fish. If you don't mind exploring the cuisine there and maybe get a slight stomach ache you try their specialties, you won't regret them.

I know. The place looks shabby. As if gang of thugs had been living in it for months. Yet, please have a seat, order your food taste and see the beautiful view to the river. Unlike in other places serving it, l'Escale's snow-white ably cut and lightly pan fried Nile perch fillet is simply perfect, with or - even better... More

The food was quite delicious. The African specialties like the Maboke fish was really good (see the picture). Delicious fish brochette (capitain). The setting is very nice, overlooking the river Oubangui. With friendly and relaxed atmosphere. A must when in Bangui.

The restaurant is located slightly outside the town center. A small patio out front has a few tables but the huge beach shacky vibe in the back is where its at. There is a live band that plays decent tunes on Saturday nights. The food was quite delicious. The African specialties like the Maboke fish with curry was really good.... More
