Out of the way, but always a good choice. My wife loves "Sopa de Gallina) and always wants to go to Julita's for lunch one day. Ideal to combine with a trip to the hot springs or the coffee farms. No beers though!
We visited here based on a recommendation from a taxi driver, who said "if you want local food, this is the place to visit" and he was correct. The restaurant is located quite a ways out of town, about a twenty minute taxi ride, ($10...return without a tip) It is past the Macaw bird park, close to the hot springs. It is a family restaurant, part of a small coffee plantation. We were lucky and had a guided tour with one of the family while they were cooking us a lunch. We had some wonderful and simple local food, including chicken soup, roast chicken, tortillas, beans, plantains and a corn beverage (non alcoholic), all at a great price. If you want to eat local, see some great scenery, have an interesting ride through the country then go there you will not be disappointed.More
