Stopped in and immediately liked the quiet, open dining area in a courtyard. I had the chicken burrito with veggies, rice and beans topped with a delicious sauce. My son had the vegan burger. Both dishes were delicious. Inexpensive as well. Would certainly return!

Not too far from the square. Food was really good. Service was a little sparse. We had delicious nachos. Salad was also great. Would go back.

My teen daughter and I had a very nice lunch here. We ate in a lovely and relaxing courtyard. Also love their mission - according to the owner - to help "create the Guatemalan dream." Lots of cool murals, a shop, and yoga classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings!

Great food selections with Willy: the best chef in Xela. This is for the progressives out there who want to support the native Mayans in their drive for political awareness. Basic Guatemalan fare prepared perfectly.

La Red Kat (formerly Cafe RED) is the perfect place to chill out with friends, eat amazing food or do your homework for your Spanish classes! The daily meal specials are delicious and a great deal, I love Saturdays parrilla special. Organic Guatemalan coffee, WiFi, beautiful decor and friendly staff all make LA Red Kat my favorite place in Xela... More

I like very much this place, the food was good with a vegetarian option, but what i like more is the opportunity to know the interesting projects from the people of this empresa social. Here you can practice yoga, buy hancraft and other things, listen about social activities, and sometimes there are movies and theatre. I suggest a visit and... More

Great food and service. The space is beautiful and covered in colorful murals. The courtyard is lovely. The backstory of this business is inspiring--the restaurant trains persons who have been deported back to Guatemala in the culinary arts.

Nice presentations of quasi-typical guatemalen plates, and some not so typical. I'd try anything on the menu. Relax, enjoy your meal with a Gallo beer and you'll be fine. Since it's a cooperative, I feel even better about dining here, or simply having a good cup of coffee and dessert.

Cafe R.E.D is a great place to find a little peace in the busy city of Xela (Quetzaltenango). They serve food that western travelers may be missing but with a Guatemalan twist. For example, I had a burrito with pepian sauce (a traditional sauce made in Guatemala). The cafe has a number of tables and the staff seems more than... More
