You must have an Olaf, a yummy Sunday in a waffle cone! The smell of waffle cones cooking is enough to lure you over! A must have, at least once, during your stay in Avalon.

We went to Big Olaf's twice during our weekend visit to Catalina Island. The ice cream and their homemade waffle cones are sooooo good! We also felt their ice cream products were very reasonably priced, especially for a tourist area. Highly recommend this fabulous ice creamery to others. A MUST DO while visiting Catalina Island.
The line outside this place tells a lot of the story. Giant cones, delicious ice cream, lovely toppings - it's less modern/sterile and maybe has less innovative flavors than Scoops down the street, but my vanilla ice cream/chocolate topping/whipped cream/cherry cone was a pretty perfect example of a classic combination. When I go back, I'm going to Olaf's every time.
I hadn't been to Catalina in over twenty years. As a kid, I remembered the ice cream. It was fun to bring my 7-year old to enjoy Big Olaf's. Yes, it's Dreyers ice-cream. We also tried Scoops down the way, which was also good. Friendly-service with a smile.
On the harbor this ice cream shop offers fresh-daily sugar cones and fills them with delicious ice-cream and yogurt. Yummy!!!
Six ~ 16 year old boys and Waffle Cones = WIN!!! They walked there everyday, I think! It's a tiny little place, but Big Olaf's is BIG on Yumminess!
You can smell the sugar cones all over Avalon. You MUST have a cone at least once each time you visit Avalon. Yummy.
