This is actually my go to fishmarket as I live in the neighborhood and can walk down the street to get fresh fish. I am lucky enough to be able to check out what's in daily and enjoy buying things for my pantry like risotto, lovely oil's, vinegar, condiments even fresh baked cookies and breads. But it is more than... More

I've had Blacksalt on my list of restaurants to try for years and though I've been to Kotubuki (great Japanese just across the street) many times, I hadn't yet set foot in Blacksalt until this past weekend. The fish market is a great entrance and I love the two together. First, the hostess. We arrived 30 mins early and she... More

As long as you have access to a car, this is a great place to go for beautifully prepared, fresh seafood. (There's a fish market up front, with the dining room tucked behind -- out of sight but not out of smell.) It's expensive, portions aren't large, and the wine list is one of the priciest we've seen in DC.... More

I've eaten fish at a thousand restaurants. This one is among the best. The fish was cooked perfectly. I ordered a buttered lobster appetizer. Most restaurants overcook lobster and it ends up chewy. Not here. The lobster was silky smooth with remarkable flavor. On top of that, every single ingredient played a role enhancing the lobster flavor. Indeed, everything I... More

Great Seafood restaurant with excellent service and an exciting menu. Be mindful that they refer to their appetizers as "starters" cause the portions aren't really sharable. Don't be discouraged though, just order your own like we did. We started off with Buttered Poached Lobster which was delightfully toothsome. Even with all the excitement on the menu we went with the... More

This is an amazing place with a good selection of caviar and oysters. The bouillabaisse was delicious. I would recommend this place for a romantic dinner or a birthday party. So glad I found it.

We have been here many times and never hesitate to return when provided the opportunity. Reservations can be difficult on the weekends but we shoot for a spot in the bar area where the full menu is served. The food is consistently great and the real wood grill is a great addition.

Visited with 3 colleagues for lunch. Excellent service , excellent menu and excellent value. The chef was also flexible to some special dietary needs. Will return again and again.

This restaurant is amazing. It's in a great residential area near Georgetown University. I wish I lived closer - I'd go all the time!! It's a great place. My partner and I came here for our anniversary. He'd been here over Christmas time and I'd been hearing great things about it for years, so I decided to come. Overall, it... More

Blacksalt has consistently for the last several years turned out wonderful dishes, most of them having fish as the main ingredient, but other choices for those who are not fish lovers (such as my wife). Waiters are attentive. The front part of the restaurant is a fish market where top cuts are served.
