If Mexican/ Southwest food is on your mind then this is the place! It was packed when my wife and I went so reservations are recommended, but not necessary. I read a previous review about the guacamole here and it was totally accurate- freshly made...More

We just fell over this restaurant while desperately hungry. How lucky we were. It was the most interesting Mexican food I've had. I come from a country wit little experience with this cuisine. The flavours of the mole and tacos I chose were exciting on...More

It was a surprise going to a Mexican restaurant and find that the menu is made up of tapas. In reality, people are used to eating a full meal when you go to a Mexican restaurant. The flavor of the food was good but it...More

First, I love Jose Andres. I think he is creative, talented, treats his employees well and the food is well executed. Except when it is not. I brought two out of town guests to dinner here. I had been here once before and it was...More

Guacamole was awesome hands down. It is a little pricey but worth every penny. Tacos we're no point. Service was too. Only thing that didn't hit the mark is the serving size. Recommend this place if you want quality over quantity.

This place isn't far from the National Gallery of Art and so we stopped there for an early lunch with no reservation, on a Saturday. The decor is interesting, bright and cheery. We had a booth in the window that was really comfy. There were...More

Hubby and I grabbed a quick lunch here after visiting the National Archives. Let me preface this by saying we are from the south, close to Texas, so we know good Mexican and Tex-Mex. This place was awesome! The salsa and chips were so good....More

Found this spot during a walkabout after the Museums on the National Mall. Cool vibe, great drinks. Food was very tasty, creative spins on some traditional fare. We loved it so much, we stopped back the next night, too. Fantastico!

Yes! We usually get 4 dishes between us. The vegies and salads are bigger than meat dishes. But do get tge fresh guacamole!

Oyamel combines Mexico's rich regional diversity with the modern urban atmosphere of Mexico City. The liveliness of the dining room is matched by the creativity of the menu and cocktail list, featuring antojitos-Mexican small plates-ceviches and tacos, plus unique margaritas, and an impressive array of wines and tequilas. Originally opened in 2004 in the Crystal City neighborhood of Arlington, Oyamel moved to its current home in the Penn Quarter in March of 2007.
