We had the best service from Oscar. Patient and well informed, he got us through the menu as well as topping off our water glasses on a frequent basis. The margaritas we ordered had a sort of froth on top that was salty so we had to complement these with lots of water. The ceviche was fresh and so potent.... More

We are plant based, so there were some limits as they put lard in their beans. I do not understand the need for this, but important to know. The margarita was small, but adorable. The decor was the best part! It is so cool inside- butterfly theme. The hostess was not the most friendly, but okay. The cactus was good,... More

Great atmosphere. Guacamole is very nice, made fresh table side. Had the small plates of meatballs, tamales, ceviche, shrimp, pork tacos (two small plates plus a taco for $20). All the dishes were very good. Seasoned very nicely. Very good margaritas too!

We just enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Oyamel. Everything was delicious and very high quality. We had great margaritas, guacamole, chips, salsa, tacos (Baja fish taco very yummy), beef, enchiladas, and omg a tamale to die for. We had a 9 pm reservation but showed up,at 8:35 and were seated right away. The only con I can think of is... More

Went on Friday night, party of 4. Had a reservation so got seated right away, but it was literally 45 minutes after we sat, that waiter finally took our order. Dinner for 4 took 3 hours. Table made guacamole was great. Their chips & salsa were different, and addictive. The street tacos were nice - three was the right size.... More

Even on a Sunday night, there was an hour wait. Fantastic Mexican (not Texmex) food with good service and great margaritas. Everything we tried on the menu was superb.

We went here for lunch on.a Monday. We made a reservation just to be sure. We were seated right away. The place was bright with cheerful decor - like a fiesta...with live cacti plants. The food was great and you should try their made to order guacamole. Price is reasonable considering that this is owned by Chef Jose Andres.

I treated myself to a birthday lunch. Oyamel is FABULOUS!!! The wait staff is attentive without being annoying. I had the black bean soup with mahi mahi tacos and wild mushroom tacos. The food is spot on DELICIOUS! I also had a great refreshing drink that I want to try to duplicate at home. It's coconut water and lime mixed... More

So much was so good. You walk in, the vibe is fun and energetic, and the decor is fantastic. The front desk staff are very welcoming and accommodating.....of course you can have a different table! The food.....ahhhh. Some of the best we've ever had. It arrived to our table hot and delicious. So good, except - no serving spoons, or... More

They have recently expanded. They are now about twice the size they were before. On Sunday afternoon, we were lucky to get seats at the bar. Before the expansion, we wouldn’t have even been able to get in. I don’t eat Mexican food in the United States. I lived in Mexico and it isn’t the same. On the other hand,... More

Description
Oyamel combines Mexico's rich regional diversity with the modern urban atmosphere of Mexico City. The liveliness of the dining room is matched by the creativity of the menu and cocktail list, featuring antojitos-Mexican small plates-ceviches and tacos, plus unique margaritas, and an impressive array of wines and tequilas.

Originally opened in 2004 in the Crystal City neighborhood of Arlington, Oyamel moved to its current home in the Penn Quarter in March of 2007.
