I love gored gored and so use that to judge a place. Dukem Ethiopian makes a gored gored very heartwarming to me. The atmosphere is clean but not pretentious and it appears this is where the cabbies eat! I honestly doubt you could go wrong here, everything I had was wonderful. The injera was just as I like it.

I personally did not like the spongy bread but that does not take away from the authenticity of the food or the quality. The place was packed with all types of people but it seemed a good number of Ethiopeans(always a good sign for ethnic food!) We were referred by a cab driver from the old country. Would go again.

I am a big fan of Ethiopian food. Eating different dishes using your fingers and sponge bread. And this place is very good. Fresh and tasty. I've always liked Ethiopian beer but who knew that they also had an excellent, deep red wine? Beware, though, when they say spicy, they mean *spicy*!

I came here with a bunch of friends. They let us sit for hours and talk, striking the balance of making sure we had what we needed without being over bearing. The food was fantastic, I got a vegetarian platter which was incredible though I was stuffed at the end. So glad we wandered in here.

I only had Ethiopian food once before and all I remember it was extremely spicy. This time we were looking for a place to have dinner on Christmas eve in a trendy Washington DC neighborhood. We saw a family with kids entering this place and we decided to follow them. We really enjoyed the whole thing. All food was delicious... More

I always miss my injera whenever I'm away from home. That's the only thing I hate about travelling outside of Ethiopia. Thankfully, my cousin took me to Dukem and it was amazing. I got to experience the wonderful, rich flavors of Ethiopian food outside of Ethiopia. I even forgot that I was in D.C the whole time I was in... More

A good location in a fun section of DC. We were told to order off of the menu rather than the large buffet and we were pleased. The injera was tasty as was the various vegetable mixtures atop the bread. The waiters were very helpful and attentive.

The greater Washington area is very fortunate in having many choices among Ethiopian and Eritrean restaurant options. Dukem is a centrally located one, only a block from the U. St. Metro stop. It is open all day. It also has a large terrace, which is great for warmer weather. The menu is the standard one, but there's also a great... More

An Ethiopian colleague recommended we try Dukem as he said it is closest to his local taste, it didn't disappoint. Great flavours, especially the lamb tibs and kitfo. Portions were decent and the prices are very reasonable, don't spect great decor but it's a great place to have a tasty affordable dinner. Service could have been a little quicker but... More
