Everything on the menu that we got was amazing. We had reservations but actually ended up eating the bar area which is slightly elevated from the main dining space and had great views of the room and fun people watching. Christopher, our waiter, was amazing and fun. Food was delectable -drinks also great. Highly recommend for any type of group... More

Johnny’s Half Shell recently moved from Capitol Hill to Adams Morgan, downsizing and, in the process, returning to its roots as a neighborhood restaurant serving impeccably fresh seafood and a few other, extremely well-prepared selections such as a braised chicken dish and a rib-eye. It felt great walking into (this new) Johnny’s for the very first time: it’s relaxed and... More

We came here for a work lunch. Its a short walk from the Capitol, and they host a lot of political events and private meals for lobbyists and politicians, which was clear from looking around the restaurant. We had the soup, which I did not enjoy, though my colleagues loved it. Bread was nice, and filling. The crab cakes and... More

Lots of seafood on the menu! The restaurant smelled of fried food. Crab cakes were even deep fried. I had Scallops that were delicious with mushrooms and butter. However service was a bit "iffy". For example we were not offered bread until we asked for it and it came out of the oven Long before we arrived. . . the... More

Our waiter was not informed about the restaurant's wine selection. He told us "I don't like white wines and cannot comment on them." Service was very slow, never received bread, or salt or pepper until asked for, over and over. The potions were far too small - one tiny crab cake, with a handful of fries and a lump of... More

My group was seated immediately as we arrived and we were served promptly. Raw oysters were very good, The fried oysters were as good as they get - deftly and delicately seasoned and breaded, cooked to perfection. We ordered a second plate, which disappeared quickly. My next course was Crab Norfolk, which is not easy to find and is much... More

Unexpected delight . . . the gumbo is the best we've had anywhere. Seasoning is perfect and has just the right amount of slow burn to the heat in it. Salads were delicious too. Crab Louis salad was very good - just a tad on the salty side. Can't wait to go back.

Wonderful menu. Delightful appetizers. Grilled calamari with field greens had the perfect hit of citrus and the right amount of tenderness. The rockfish with lime sauce was light and another great hit of citrus. Fish light flaky and very subtle. Scallops got raves too. Tried three desserts. But the chocolate angel food cake with caramel sauce was incredible. My idea... More

This was my first visit to this restaurant, my friends who live in the neighborhood have been several times and have always enjoyed it. But my experience was overall only so-so. There were six of us, we ordered the oysters (which were delicious) and the chicken wings (also really, really good). And split a salad which was also fine. Three... More
