This is my new favorite spot in Dupont Circle. Connected to an adorable locally-owned bookstore, Kramers is abandoned indoor and outdoor (street seating) cafe offering breakfast staples and classic American fare from morning until night. I tried the wedge salad with a salmon fillet added...on. It set me back about $20, but high-end pricing like that is to be expected here in Washington, D.C. The quality of the seafood was immaculate. (I should know; I worked in a seafood restaurant once.) The blue cheese was tangy and salty, just the way I like it. The service here is fast and friendly, and the restaurant usually isn't too crowded on Friday nights to walk in without a reservation. I recommend Kramers to anyone who enjoys great food to go along with a good book.More

I had a latte here in October 2021. I was killing time before my timed entry ticket for the Phillips Collection which is about 10 minutes walking from Kramers. I sat outdoors under a tent. The service was good. I also enjoyed the bookstore. Kramers...is located very close to Dupont Circle.More

We were staying at Dupont Circle and wanted breakfast. A 2 minute walk from the Dupont Circle Hotel we saw the tents and looked at the menu which had exactly the kind of food we were looking for. The service was spot on, the food...very good. They were busy but efficient. A great place for a casual breakfast.More

Remarkably good food. Excellent sandwiches, try the Cuban. Enjoyed the bookstore afterwards. Really a fun spot to stop in.

We always go to Kramer’s for brunch whenever we visit the Dupont circle area. The meals are satisfying and well prepared. It’s great to visit and browse the book store after meal. I plan to return and would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends .

We were absolutely shocked. We've been coming to Kramer's for about ten years (probably more than 20 times, each of us), and it had been one of our favorite restaurants in all of DC. Inventive, flavorful, good presentation, good value. What a change. The menu...is different, but that's not the problem. The quality was absolutely terrible. The "Bright Spring Salad" was arugula, what appeared to be canned corn, what appeared to be defrosted frozen peas, and a few sprigs of cut asparagus--also seemingly canned. $14 for that. A JOKE. We ordered the "deviled eggs with crab." Virtually no crab (maybe the canned juice from a container of crabmeat?) and DIRTY, rough-cut scallions on top. I got the "Cubano" sandwich, which was disgusting. Check out the pictures. It kind of says it all. Cocktails were bad as well--mine was "the Fitzgerald," which tasted like Tang with gin in it. Total bill was $57. Couldn't even eat most of it. Waiter was nice enough; could only laugh when he heard us unload on him about the food, poor guy. This place has LOST it. So much so that we don't even want to go into the bookstore anymore, which is a pity because it was an excellent bookstore. But the food, the food was BAD.More

After a visit to the Phillips Collection , we walked over to Kramers to have a lunch on a sunny but a bit windy weekend afternoon. Food was great and the portion was big enough and fulfilling. They had the outdoor makeshift patio out into...the street with plenty of tables and chairs, but we opted inside dining as it was a bit windy. The service wasn't, to be honest, great, but it wasn't bad either. It seems Kramers charges 20% tip (minimum) for all diners. I didn't have any option, but to pay the 20% tip, which I would have given them anyway. However, I would have appreciated it knowing it beforehand, the waitress didn't explain anything to us. The service wasn't top-notch, but the food was right up there. I would revisit them, of course.More

Out walking/exploring and looking for dinner after a day of playing tourist. We only eat outdoors and our party of 9 was seated quickly at adjoining tables. Everyone wanted something different from breakfast to burgers to salads. The food was plentiful and the drinks were...declared some of the best they had had. The children’s waffle was so light and fluffy even the adults wanted to order. The sauce was so good on the wings we asked if it were available for sale, unfortunately,no. Dessert? Had to save room for the chocolate pop tart that is apparently well known. Great waiter!More

An awesome unassuming restaurant. Delightful and inclusive food options for everyone in your party. Prices are reasonable. During Covid they have taken over part of the street for expanded outdoor dining (totally out in the open - no "walls"). Their patio is also open, which...has a cover (but no walls) and heat lamps. Very Covid safe all things considered - servers wore masks, tables spread out, etc. Dog friendly too!More
