Marcel's is a great restaurant near the foggy bottom region in D.C. I have had dinners there but never a brunch. We had brunch the other day and it was great. It is definitely a more formal place for brunch than many young people are looking for these days but it is a very enjoyable experience. The wine on that... More

We went for dinner before Chicago at JFK about three weeks ago. Food was excellent and so was the service. Was pleasantly surprised when we were told of their car service to the JFK after dinner. Will be back again soon.

This place is great for a special occasion. We came here for our 1 year anniversary. They asked us if we were there for anything special and then wrote happy anniversary on the menu! We each ordered 5 courses and would have been stuffed had we ordered more. They are very welcoming, friendly and accommodating here. We did not need... More

Marcel's is the perfect place to dine for a special occasion or simply to treat yourself. The menu is a tasting menu with multiple options for each course but, unlike most places which force you to chose course by course, you decide how many courses you would like and then pick from anything on the menu. As a result, no... More

We went on an off night in respect to business--a Tuesday. We were treated royally and offered every courtesy. The food was inspired. All three courses offered interesting blends of great foods--the mussels were embedded in a great tomato-based sauce, the ravioli was accompanied by bright fresh peas, the salmon was encrusted and layered with mashed and fried potatoes, and... 24 hours ago, I wrote a review about an evening my wife and I spent at Marcel's earlier this year. We generally post only positive reviews as I hope other TA users will be able to see from my review history . We made an exception here as we thought that Marcel's was so poor. In my original review I... More

Marcel's provides high quality Belgian/French cuisine with top service. The problem is the atmosphere. The layout of the restuarant is akward. More troubling is the odd lighting, which give a yellow/orange hue to everything including the food. Not appetizing,

I stumbled upon Marcel’s by mistake. My wife and I had guest finished seeing a show at the Kennedy Center, and were looking for a place to eat. Being new to DC, I made a reservation at Jardenia, across the street from Marcel’s. As soon as we got to Jardenia, we were disappointed. It was hard to find a host,... More

Dining during my early days in Washington alternated between a group of upscale French restaurants and...everything else that was okay but seldom interesting. Times have changed greatly with a proliferation of fine restaurants in a variety of cuisines hardly imaginable 30 years ago. The old guard French places have largely gone, and largely without regret save for one -- Jean... More

The food and service are good, but not up to the hype or price. The "formal" French is not there. Ambiance is nice.
