I really like Clyde's. Nice atmosphere beginning 20th century with nice posters and aircraft models hanging on the ceiling. This is a typical US restaurant with quality kitchen and good wine. Normally, it is attended by plenty of people of different ages, there is a warm ambience and the wine choice us pretty good. When I went a few days... More

We passed by and took a chance--lucky to get a table at all without a reservation on a Saturday night, and at about 6 PM, ours was the only one free as we walked the whole way into the most remote corner of this large restaurant. So call in advance if you want to be sure! I enjoyed a well... More

Weekend brunch is bound to be a zoo! Too many people, an overtaxed kitchen, and a frustrated staff run off its feet. There is always the table where everything that can go wrong does go wrong. Eggs Benny with hard yolks, untoasted toast, warmish plates that should be piping hot, long wait for beverages, no coffee refills without zealously flagging... More

We visited Clyde's on a recent visit to Georgetown Med Center for lunch. It is a beautifully-decorated old-style bar/restaurant. We shared a bowl of chili, which was actually a little on the sweet side....not our personal preference, but nothing wrong with it....and the meat loaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. The meat loaf was very good...not over the top... More

We spent a nice evening here in a small group The waitress was kind. The food was pretty good with a soft beef and a tasty cheescake, although it was good but not outstanding. The red wine was only acceptable. But the decoration and the atmosphere are cosy which gives quite nice memories.

Stopped in for Linner (combo lunch & dinner) while shopping in Georgetown based on reviews from previous patrons. This place seems to be continuously packed. When you stay at the front of the restaurant you don't realize how big it actually is but it goes on for quite some time. From the hostess to the waitress everybody seems to be... More

I like the ambience of this large, yet cosy pub-like restaurant with wood panelling and pictures all round. Virtually like something out of the sitcom 'Cheers' especially when sitting by the bar awaiting for a table to be seated. It was a Saturday lunch hour during which the place was buzzing with customers, filled with activities and conversations. The lady... More

We were celebrating a birthday dinner on a Sunday night. We had reservations and it was fairly crowded at 7:30. They had us at a table for four but we asked to be seated at a booth. Unfortunately, the booth was near the front door and there was a cold draft each time the door opened and also the smell... More

We decided to try Clydes after a recommendation and I'm so glad we did. We ate around 4:00, so there was no wait and the lunch menu was still available along with happy hour discounts. I enjoyed the butternut squash soup to start, followed by the turkey and apple chutney sandwich. This sandwich was a unique combo and oh so... More

We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. The new York strip was awesome. I also enjoyed the beer selection.

Opened in 1963, Clyde's of Georgetown qualifies as an institution. This animated tavern in the heart of Washington's most famous neighborhood popularized saloon food and practically invented Sunday brunch. More than 50 years later, Clyde's continues the tradition, serving classic American cuisine to Georgetown locals and famous faces while passers-by stop in and mingle at the long oak bar. The re-designed interior is an open invitation to the restaurant's life and times with its many travel posters, paintings, and bronze statues. Clyde's of Georgetown remains a Washington classic.
